Does anybody no joy or what wood make it come out while casual driving. motor is brand new with150 miles and i noticed it started over heating. I pulled over notice that it was leaking fluid from the back of the motor started fishing around to find shiny little cap sitting on top of the tranny!!! Any help would be good i don't no who to yell at for putting motor together? Either shop or machine shop LOL

I'm literally stuck on the side of the road as we speak

Whoever built the motor is the one that put it in so i would talk to them. They shouldn't come out unless it does what it was designed for. And that is to relieve the coolant system when it freezes so the block wont crack. It doesn't sound it should have happened at all especially if the coolant system wasn't even high in pressure.

Ya ok cool cause i just pulled out of work to going into 3rd and i notice it was alil high and look in the rear view an noticed alittle line of coolant. Fml the motor is brand new from top to bottom so there wood be no reason for it to freeze up in 95 degree Florida weather

Im still breaking it in on stock boost levels as well

It should be a 35mm freeze plug in that location, there is 2 of them back there.

Either it is the wrong size plug, or the install was flubbed. Or you are pressurizing the coolant system way much!

If the coolant system pressurized enough to pop a freeze plug, there are other issues to find. First the rad cap will open at anything above 13psi, Rad hoses should have popped off. A plastic end tank rad should have blown open.

A freeze plug is a one shot deal, either you knock it in properly on the first try, or you replace it.

BTW, That is the backyard myth of them, if you ever have changed a freeze plug, you know they will not pop out when the coolant jacket freezes.

They are really "CORE" plugs, so when the block(head) is cast at the foundry, they can break up and remove the sand cast mold that makes up the water jacket.

In a pinch, mainly with shops that deal with domestic engines, they will not stock metic sized freeze plugs.

So I would guess it had a 1 3/8 plug knocked in, That would be close and should have worked with out issue.

35mm=1.3779

1 3/8 = 1.375

But Freeze plugs are made a tad bigger for a .005 or so press fit.

6 bolt blocks use 9 35mm plugs

7 bolts use 7 35mm plugs and 2 40mm plugs

Rubber will hold for quite a while if installed correctly, however it should not be a permanent solution. Rubber will start falling apart from the heat, so next time the engine is out, or enough stuff taken out, a metal plug should be installed.

Do talk to that shop about this, and carry an extra rubber freeze plug in the car "just in case".
