Just had a couple quick questions regarding the install of my FP manifold. (on a 99 7 bolt)

1. I was planning on doing the double nut method for the stud installs so just double nut and torque them all to 14-17lbs? ( I think thats the torque).

2. Should I use loctite or high temp rtv on the studs? (I plan on do it to all of them even though only the oil passage one needs it).

3. Plan on using copper spray on both sides of the 4 ply MLS oem copper gasket

4. Do I torque the nuts to the same lbs as the studs or?

thanks, pictures after the install. :thumb:

Don't use studs. Use two OEM turbo bolts in the back, and two OEM O2 housing bolts in the front. Use OEM dome washers as well.

Note that the front driver's side bolt can be a PITA to get a wrench on, so you may want to pick up a 14mm box wrench and grind on it a bit to make a special tool.

EDIT:

DOH! I thought you were referring to the turbo mounting.

Yes...just double nut them to tighten them up, but don't overdo it. I use blue loctite gel on almost everything, since it helps hold things in place as well as prevent leaks.

You shouldn't need any copper spray. For the nuts, use new OEM copper lock nuts and tighten them to 12-14 ft/lbs or so and you should be good to go. Just check them and the turbo bolts after a few heat cycles to make sure everything is still tight.

1 and 4: You don't torque the studs, the double nut method is just used to bottom the stud into the head; don't torque them. They're only supposed to be around finger tight. After you mount the manifold, you then torque the nuts to the specified torque. Also, be SURE to use lock washers to keep the nuts from backing off.
