I wouldn't trust a pocket logger on a 2g. If you go that route, your going with an AFC. With an plogger, you can't really log knock, but instead timing. Although you may think that you are not knocking and getting great timing, that may in itself, so so far from the truth, its not even funny. Your car may want to give you 10 degrees of timing advance(because the afc is lying to car about airflow) and then pull all but say 3 of it back (7 degrees of knock retard). Hence, it looks like your not knocking because with a logger, the timing would still be advancing. This isn't always the case obviously, but enough to concern me that I wouldn't want to do this to my engine.

If I end up going with an AEM or something along those lines I will be going with the 272/272 and 720cc as you suggested but only because stand alone has much better control over those two items and allow for better streetability.
