So as we all know, FP has a sale on their manifold. My questions are..

Is it bad to have them coated since they don't coat them anymore?

Would a heat wrap work good if I don't get it coated?

Should I get the JMF heatshield?

sorry I don't know a lot about this manifold I just want to make sure this won't rust or crack and the heat stays down.

Thanks.

The mani can still be ceramic coated without problems. I wouldn't heat wrap it personally, because fp never intended for them to be wrapped. The jmf heat shield is no longer made, so you will need to fine one used or make your own. The fp mani is really nice though, so you don't need to worry about it cracking. I love mine, i ceramic coated mine, and I have the jmf heat shield. It's a great setup, you will enjoy it.

No, it is not bad to have it coated. If you get it ceramic coated, make sure that it is oven cured before you get it back.

JMF no longer makes a heat shield for the FP manifold, you may be able to find a used one for sale.

The header paint will work, but make sure that you get the VHT brand Flame-proof 2000 degree paint. Also, make sure that you put it on lightly. If you put more then 2 light coats on, it will flake right away. Also, make sure that you let it cure by heat cycling it a couple times before you go rippin on it.

Honestly if you are putting out the money to get a good exhaust manifold, why cheap out on the coating for it? The JMF heat shields are still out there yes, but even with it on I have heat issues from the manifold. I would highly recommend getting the Swain Tech White Lightning coating. It is expensive (150-200) but I cannot find a better way to keep those underhood temps down.

The JMF manifold shield had a terrible mounting system that is prone to breaking. There are many ways they could have fixed the system though.

As far as ceramic coating, as long as you go with a reputable company you shouldnt have to worry about anything. Mine is currently ceramic coated from Bonehead Performance and it looks new still, just don't expect noticable drops in engine bay temps though with it. Thats why you would spend the dough and buy the Swain Tech Coating, for the cooling benefits.

No it's not bad to coat them, we've coated a bunch for customers locally and across the US.

I dont think it would be worth it to ship you the FP manifold turbine house and o2 housing to get coated for the price of that to be shipped. But what would the cost be?

cast iron / grayish color shipped to 34652

FP manifold new the other 2 need to be cleanup.

I looked for the heatshield and no luck. Jmf needs to remake it, soooo many people want the damn shield.

Anyways, will I be okay if I just get it ceramic coated?

I just bought an FP Exhaust Manifold and found a Heatshield from Buschur Racing.
They look nice, althought I haven't research them yet.
Does anybody has one installed?

You can find them at their website Here

Will not fit on a FP manifold. Read the description, DSM (stock) and Evo manifold. The FP manifold does not have threaded bungs to screw the heat shield onto it.

Im happy with this manifold. it looks great and its solid. i was was stupid and let a local shot. powder coat it, i was skeptical but was being too cheap to get it cermaic coated. and they said it would be fine with a powder coat. hahaha 5 minutes after i put it on it looked like bubble wrap. so i coated it with some 2000 degree rustoleum. still holding strong :hellyeah: i wish i could of kept it the cast gray color that it comes with originally.

anyway. why would you want to cover up a pretty little manifold with a heat shield?!

I would definitely get it coated. My FP manifold turned a rusty/ugly color. I am going to send mine out to get coated soon.

Tirado CC ceramic coated my FP manifold and it's holding up just fine.

Question is though, how much of a temperature drop did it provide after coating it?

That I don't know, because I didn't have anything to compare with before hand.

TCC has some data that he did on an Evo manifold, I can't find it though.

The reason why I ask is because most of the "ceramic coatings" available are a coating of ceramic but don't exactly help with temperature control.
