I'm trying to figure out my future setup and am having a hard time deciding what to do with the manifold and wastegate. I want to go with an ext. gated FP Green and a 40mm Tial Wastegate. Now is this a good wastegate for the Green? I noticed that there is a few options for this wastegate at the site I want to buy it from. There is a pressure setting that I'm guessing has to do with the spring inside, and an option for inlet and discharge flanges. What should I do about these? What would the flanges be for? Next I'm trying to decide about the exhaust manifold. Should I stick with my 2g and port it or should I go with a tubular one? Where would I mount the wastegate if I were to do this? Would I have to drill and weld a flange to mount it or is there another option? Some tubular ones already have a flange and seem to already be an upgrade but what issues might I encounter when trying to bolt up the turbo to one of these? Will I have to do some custom work or buy a kit or something? Now onto the FP Green; There is an option for a 7cm2 or 8cm2 porting on the turbine housing. What would be the benefit of either setting, and what would I have to do to accommodate whichever one I choose? And one last question: why would I need the 90 degree elbow that they offer with the turbo?

I'm sure by now you have realized I know very little about this. It will be a while before I have all the supporting parts for this so I'll have plenty of time to learn exactly what I will have to do so please no comments like "if you don’t know already this setup isn't for you". :nono: This doesn't benefit me and it's just a waste of time for someone to type.

What I want out of this car is a 12 second daily driver, so it will be running pump gas most of the time. Thanks in advance for any information given. :thumb:

The 40mm wastegate is fine. As for the setting pick a spring that you want your wastegate to open at, probably around 15 Psi. Your exhaust mani is fine for your goals but if you want to upgrade you could go with a SBR mani. If you have the money and want a tubular then get one, but it is not needed. If you go with a SBR or 2G mani then you can run an O2 housing mounted wastegate.

As for your question about the 7cm vs. 8cm - 7cm is definatly the way to go for two reasons, one it will spool faster and two it is more reliable. The easiest way to set up a green is to buy a Ported Slow Boy Racing Cast Manifold and a Victory Performance 2.5 O2 Housing W/ Tial 38mm Wastegate. The you will be very pleased with the Ported SBR, its not too expensive and flows far better than a 2g. The VPE 02 and 38mm wastegate is a perfect match for your green and it is a bolt on affair, no need to worry about what size the inlet and outlet is for the wastegate (also there is no need for 3" housing for your 12 second goals). Lastly when talking about wastegate springs, each spring is rated at the MINIMUM amount of boost you can run on them. If you are running a 14Psi rated spring you will be able to run anywhere from 14 up. If they dont have the exact psi you are looking for, many venders will combine springs for an extra cost. Get yourself a SAFC, a cheap 3" turbo back exhaust, the green and the parts mentioned above and you will be well on your way to the 12's for about 3,000. :thumb:

So if I wanted to run around 20 psi or more, would I want to get a 20 psi rated spring? Would this prevent me from running it at 15psi if I ever wanted to? What would happen if I got a 15 psi spring and was running it at 20+ psi? Would the wastegate open before I hit max boost? I want to run around 22 psi most of the time; what kind of spring would you people recommend?

Generally you can run over double the srping pressure.

Most people go with a 1 bar spring. You can get a little more than two bar with some boost controllers.

If you went with a 20Psi spring then that is the lowest that you will be able to boost.
