I just ordered a forge bov from horsepowerfreaks (they have them on clearence for $133 if anyone is interested in getting one), becuase I did a leak test and found the my crushed 170,000 mile 1G bov was starting to leak a 12psi and leaking badly at 25psi. It was leaking as fast as my little air compressor could push air in so I couldn't go any higher. I think I've got all the other leaks fixed though, it lost pressure very fast to about 17-18psi then it took about 3 minutes to go down to 0psi.

Anyways, I orded the spring and shim tuning kit at the same time. They sent me an email saying that the tuning kit was already included with the bov and they cancelled that part of the order. Can anyone that has bought the forge bov confirm that the tuning kit was included?

Well I got it installed, it leaked so I JB welded it. I got the non recirculating valve, it came with the tuning kit and I installed the the 23psi-30psi spring with no shims. It holds fine, when I let off after full throttle it has a loud pshhhhhh, that last for kind of a long time. Then it flutter's a little bit. When I let off between shifts a low to moderate accelleration it flutters. When I let off after moderate to moderate plus accelleration it pshhhh, not as long as full throttle, then it flutters. If a hold it at part throttle at about 15psi it sounds like a turkey gobbling. The inner valve is kind of small, I didn't measure it but it cant be more than a inch in diameter. Based on this and the length of the pshhhh, I wonder if it relieve's enough boost, I'm running a holset hx35 at 25psi for this test but my normal boost is 30psi.

I just swapped in the 15-23psi spring. All the surge(flutter) is gone except for part throttle at 12-15psi range. I was reading some of the threads on the greddy BOV's and how to adjust the preload, I'm assuming this is the equivilant to changing springs in the Forge BOV's. And the consensus seems to be you adjust it to the amount of vacuum you pull when letting off, and alot of people run the softest setting. And that what boost pressure you run doesn't matter.

Does this apply to these Forge units?
Do you think I should try the next softer spring( 5-15psi )? I peg the the neg. vacuum on my guage when letting off the throttle. At idle I have 19in/hg, and at very light cruise I'm around 10. At moderate cruise or if I encounter a hill it is usually at 2-3in/hg, or in the case of even the smallest hill it starts making boost, this turbo is very difficult to stay out of boost.

I've had a hell of a time with these bov's. I am supposed to be getting another sent from the manufacturer soon. They said they had a problem with the lock rings in the bov not seating right. This is my second (going on the third) one so definetely do a boost leak test after you install yours.
