Forced Performance Cams

I will personally suggest that anyone that is eying a set of Comp Cams to seriously check out the FP Cams. They are Comp Cams, just modified... Read up on them and you will prob see that they are a better deal for the same price. (This is what I did and I am loving it) :thumb:

how do you know the comp stage 2s are any different from the FP2 cams?Dou you have acually cam profile numbers that can prove they are modified/better?

I personally think there the same cams,if they where any "better" fp wouldnt sell them for the same price as the comps on there site.

was thinkin about something. wonder if anyone would know.

let's say you had 300 horsepower to start with on a 16g, slapped on some cams and got 320 horsepower after the install. of course a 20 horsepower increase. would the horsepower increase be greater if the same thing was done but on a much larger turbo??? say if you had a um (cough cough) GT-13 or something running maybe 400 horses. should i expect only about a 20 horsepower increase by slapping on the cams? or would i notice a much more dramatic increase being that the bigger turbo already allows a much greater airflow capability and so the cams increase it 5 times over or something as compared to the 16g and cams? hmmmm.........

You would be really hard pressed to get 400hp out of your stock cams. That would take at a very minimum 40lb/min, but more likely 43ish. I had to run 26-27psi to get 39-40lb/min with my 50 trim on stock cams. Now I can get the same airflow at 10psi less boost with the FP2 cams.

At 17psi with stock cams I was flowing about 33-35lb/min(depending on weather), now with FP2 cams I get 39-40lb/min. The car doesnt fall off till 7300-7500, but does slowly. It doesnt fall off enough to shift in 1st or 2nd before 8k, which I have done a few times. Normally though, I just shift at 7k when Im having fun.

true I would like to see numbers, because in the next couple of days i can eather a buy some comp stage 2s for 434.00 shipped or i can order the fp2s for 454.00 shipped.

I need to know!!! if im gonna spend the extra money and get the same shit.

Also regardless of if you have to "degree" the cams or not,im degreeing them, because then you KNOW there in right

Go with the FP2 cams.

People have said that the comp cams give up alot of bottom end. The FP2 cams are great at all RPMs, and still have wicked top end. I wouldnt trade my set for comps or 272 at all.

Pretty much the same as it did without them, but with just a little more blurp in it.

It had a slight hump in the Idle before (780cc injectors), and its just a little more now.

from what i saw on here and was told by chris at comp, this cams, both fp's and comp's were designed by comp and forced performance, they probably are very very similiar, but with small differences, almost no difference, but enough where they can label them as fp's and not comp's.

i would say flip a coin or see whats on the shelf IN STOCK, so you dont have to wait for them!!

the smallest difference in a cam, can make the largest difference in performance. And from the previous numbers that were posted on dsmtalk, including dyno information from them, i would go with the FP's over the comps.

Everything Ive heard about the difference is that FP work on the timing to get it perfect compared to the regular comp cams.

Other than that, I believe the lift and duration are the same.

I just picked up my set of 101200 cams they are definately new billit cams, not regrinds. I have never even heard of a comp re-grind I think thats somebody talking who dones't know anything about cams. Anyway these will be going in soon and we'll see how they do next year. Too bad it's snowing here..

I have an HKS 272/ 264 set up with AEM camsprokets with the intake retarded 2 degrees. The car runs great, but after doing some research wished I would have gone with an HKS 272/ 272 setup. :dsm:

I dropped my HKS 272/ 264 cam set up with no problem. I have the stock retainers, springs & valves. Knock on wood!!!

I got a set of FP 2's...here's what the spec sheet reads:

FPCam1 vs FPCam2 ?

I have a GVR4 - modded a bit - (275 WHP now) but not too obvious - I am keeping the sleeper look.

Just wondering if the FPCam2 would be a bit too lumpy in the idle for me -

Right now I have stock cams - but with my 3 inch turbo back it is borderline on being obvious that my car is modified - and I don't want to really give it away.

Also this is a street car not a track car.

Any feedback appreciated. - I am definately going with the FP cams - just a matter of which one.. (also for reference - next mod will be FP3052)
