Force OBD Inspection Pass 2G

Okay then can anyone point me in the proper direction to use my 99 GSX computer to pass inspection. I can pass this year by keeping the exhaust components I have on right now and replacing my IAC, but I would like to not have to keep putting the car back to this stage every 2 years.

All these laws are really stupid. In RI, I can't have a car on my property if it isn't registered or in a garage, even if the car never sees road time. If it is registered it has to be inspected. If it isn't inspected the registration gets revoked and now the car can no longer legally sit in my driveway. So, RI has made it impossible to own a hobby car even if you do follow the laws and not use it on the street.

That is a really bad situation... I'm sorry. This ROM would solve your problem, but you'll have to evaluate the legality of using it on a non-1995 car where you live.

Here is my question. If I were to hypothetically to know someone who will overlook the exhaust components (not safety) and just plug it up to the machine and let the machine get whatever results it gets and passes it. Would this be for me?

I have considered that route, but the likelihood of me finding another GST/GSX that legitimately passes inspection and would be willing to do this is slim to none out here in this cruddy state. Otherwise I run the risk of getting a 500.00 fine if a police officer wanted to be a dick and run the plates of my car while driving by.

In some states, they have a creepy centralized database with VIN and inspection info where all the mechanics' OBDII computers dump information. So it doesn't help if the mechanic "overlooks" the issue since it is on record. That will get your mechanic in trouble. The only way is to have your ECU report ready/passed on the codes or to find a same make car that does report ready/passed.

A flashable ECU & Openport cost less than $500. This ROM is free. EcuFlash is free. You do the math. :shhh:

Wow some states are just shitty. I would hate to live in RI. Actually, I wouldn't be able to stand living in RI. I would get the urge to kick someone's teeth down their throat every time I thought about the dumbass emissions laws. Why can't they just stick a ####ing sniffer on it and call it a day? A properly tuned car will have less tail pipe emissions than a poorly tuned poorly repaired, poorly maintained car that doesn't through codes. Or if its a race car, shut the #### up and get the #### out of your life?

Man, these Arab guys are feisty :hellyeah:

I didn't know there was an Arab Alabama... learn something new everyday. :D

Funny story behind the name of our town. The name was misspelled when the city was incorporated. It was supposed to be Arad after a man named Arad Thompson. Someone misspelled it/couldn't read hand writing. It was never changed.

The comedian Henry Cho's wife is from here, and he has a few funny bits about the town in his standup.

Well i flashed the rom in the first post and I dont think it was updated because this is what I got. also there is no options in ecuflash to choose what options pass or NA.
If I did something wrong, could someone point me in the right direction

Thanks

I just checked, it is in the file, all the way at the end.

Create a new folder drop in only the xml and the hex and make sure ecuflash is pulling the XML and HEX from the new folder. Chances are you ECUflash is using the new hex and the old XML.

i deleted the other xml's and now it's showing up.

last question.

the sec air, AC, and heated catalyst. do I set it as not available and failed. or just not available and still passed.

pretty much did I do this right?

How do you code out EGR equipment? So that there is no CEL? Which periphery bits need to be turned off? Any addition to coding in the .xml to allow for additional "features" to show up in the ROM?

I'll see if I can recode your bigmaps definition with this. I haven't done any playing with ecuflash definitions for a while, PM me so I don't forget and I'll see what I can do.

I'm having a problem with this. I have added the xml to the romdata eclipse folder and even deleted the old file because the obd inspection section wasn't showing up. well now it is showing and i have it set up just like the pic in post 35 but everything shows n/a instead of just what I have set to show n/a.

can anyone tell me if im doing anything wrong or missing a step?

heres what the scan tool says

I have a 95 tsi, that when is hooked up to obd2 throws many different codes. I need to get this car through inspection. If I buy a 98 or 99 ecu and flash it with this, should I pass nj inspection?

Does NJ smogs it as an OBD2 car and just plug into your OPB2 port and run a scan or do they do a sniff check? If OBD2 then yes, you can use this.

Actually depends.. What codes is your car throwing?
