Today my 98 gsx sprung a boost leak and the bov basically "popped" and will not hold shit for boost and she idles/runs uber rich/ black smoke out exhaust:cry:. I looked at the upper intercooler flange, and it's basically a flange that only fits a 1g by friction (da ####?WTF) so I'm thinking about going with an NGR Type S recirculated, so here are my qs..........
Will just about any type s recirc kit work with this bov?
and....what pipe should i get for the upper? or should I just go one step further and get a decent fmic kit?
(side note: 6-bolt 5 speed, no other notable related mods that go for this issue IMO)

Well that all depends on how much money you want to spend, and what you want to do with your setup for the future. You can get a hard upper pipe with a bov flange on it. You are more then certainty welcome to purchase a fmic. A good fmic is vrsp, look around at venders find something in your price range. Stock bov has always been fail on a 2g.Just make sure you do a boost leak test when your done.
 
Why not just get a replacement BOV? There are adapters for the 2g flange to bolt on a 1g BOV. Did you do a proper boost leak test to determine what all is leaking?

first off, its like a 1g bov only flange on the upper IC pipe (6bolt swap) and i havent done it yet but i started her and tried reving a little and the bov hissed like a sissy girl and i didn't even get 5 psi (set to 14/15 atm) then the pedal went really loose so i just shut her off
 
I agree with the previously poster, however I would like to add to make sure you check your wastegate, mine got stuck closed, and I blamed everything but it until I had a new intake setup.
 
put the old 1g back on and started it.
it started fine, no smoke, but trying to rev it to 2200 rpms with WOT and half WOT (wide open throttle) bogged the car like it was getting gas and the boost went to 0 psi... OMFG HELP ME
