iv saved up quite a bit of money and i just bought a new evolll16g know i was woundering what pros and cons are their for both the smic and fmic altho i would really like to keep the greedy icp that i already have and i will be going with greedy with this

The Stock SMIC will not hold up to a lot of boost. Unless you get a bigger SMIC but those are still pretty expensive.

You can make your own FMIC for really cheap these days. Theres a write up on here about making one. Go with a FMIC but I wouldnt recommend the greddy one.

Mostly, no one can spell their name right.

An FMIC will offer much greater heat rejection with the disadvantage of running warmed air to the engine radiator, longer flow paths, larger intake volume, and restricted radiator air flow.

But as you see, lots more people run front-mounts than larger sidemounts.

The greddy one is too expensive there like 850 and up usually and there is alot of uneeded piping some of the piping flows to like 2 inches. Its not a super bad FMIC but there are way better stuff out there and are a lot cheaper. Greddys are expensive cause half of the price is for the name.

now you need piping

pick up 3 of the 2.5" U-Bends with a 6" radius, and 1 5' 2.5" section of pipe 100$

now you install the fmic with some bracket straps from home depot 10$

now if you know someone who can weld this part becomes the easiest. mock up the piping from the turbo and have them weld a 1piece pipe that goes from the turbo to the fmic inlet(drivers side) then make a pipe that goes from the outler to where the smic used to be(the uicp). if not then youll have to mock up everything, and take a pen and mark where the welds should be, and take it to a muffler shop and have them weld it.

or the hard way. youll need a bunch of 2.5" couplers and you use a coupler to attach the pipes. its gonna suck this way, cause with all these couplers the risk of boost leak, and at higher boost without beaded ends basically the pipe just pops out of the coupler. thus why its better to weld as much as possible, less chance of a leak, and cant pop off welds.

if you go this route enjoy the added power while saving a good 500$ and still doing the exact thing as 8-900$ fmic kits can do. man i should start selling these things.
