I have heard that an all wheel drive flywheel can be put into a front wheel drive provided that the starters are changed as well. Does anyone know if this is true?

No. The starters are the same on all 1.8 and 2.0 motors. The difference is in the flywheel itself. The Turbo FWD is larger in diameter. The block plate that goes between the engine and tranny is different and the bellhousing on the transmission is different.
