I am trying to understand what Flywheel Step size means. Particularly in regards to the Centerforce Dual Friction clutch and either an ACT or Fridenza Flywheel.

According to Centerforce, the step size is -0.608. Since I am a newb on driveline tech, what does this mean in regards to the stock flywheel step and or ACT/Fridenza flywheels?

So the Centerforce requires a step of -0.608.

And according to Fridanza:
9. WHAT STEP HEIGHT IS MY NEW FIDANZA FLYWHEEL MADE WITH? – We design our flywheels using the factory step height. The only exception would be custom units or those intended for multi disc clutches.

Then, I should be able to bolt the CF clutch to the Fidanza flywheel without having to worry about the step size since stock is ~-.609 or so... correct?

Yes sir:thumb: . I know guys running unstepped fidanza flywheels and ACT flywheels w/ centerforce clutch disks.

Stepping is primarily just CHECKING the stock Fly wheel for the proper step height. MAny times it is out of spec. However getting a new Flywheel with factory spec step height and then checking or "stepping" is pointless. . .

Definitely try and check it if you have the tools before putting it on. That way you'll be able to factor it out if you have problems getting the car to disengage the clutch.

I've seen numerous ACT and Fiandza flywheels out of spec, if you don't check it you're asking for trouble.
