Flowmaster Exhaust and header ???'s

i use to have a 2.25in in, 2.25in out flowmaster installed on my car, but it restricted my engine to much. so i got creative...i hacked that sh!t off right behind the cat and welded 2.5 in pipe in and installed a 3in in, dual 2.5in outlet flowmaster on (same muffler you get for a chevy 350). at the back of the car i have dual 2.5in crome tips coming out of the rear valance, through the stock cut-out. when it's cold i get that rice burner, honda w/ a coffee can rattle, but once it warms up it is deep and mean. the whole job took about 3hrs but only cost me 175 bucks. the power increase was well worth the work. the price to have your neighborhood muffler shop do the same thing shouldn't be more than $250. hope the tid-bit helps.

GReddy and APEX'i do not sound anything like "weedwhackers" you have obviously been around one two many Honduhs with some cheap coffee cans and GReddy stickers.

i agree completely. personally i think flowmaster sucks. my friend has one on his jeep wrangler and it sounds like :barf:. my apexi sounds amazing and i heard the greddy exhaust systems also have a good sound. so my so called weed wacker exhaust not2fast isnt like that. and for the price of my exhaust you can buy two flow masters:p . you get what you pay for:shhh:

I don't agree with this reply. NO FLAMING INTENDED:shhh:. I think D'seclipse didn't realize that you have a 420a non-turbo car. Headers do make a difference in non-turbo & turbo cars. Depending on size of primary tube diameter, length, configuration, smoothness of turns/bends, etc. can make a difference in the performance gains you get and at what rpm range you will see the biggest benefit. I wouldn't take the time to port the factory manifold on a non-turbo car, not worth the effort. That's really more for the turbo crowd due to the fact that the factory 2g turbo manifold is a good piece to start out with. I would suggest that if you are wanting to go fast purchase a turbo kit for your car. There really is no other HP gain per dollar spent, unless you want to run NOS (don't do it :barf: ). You could spend almost the same amount of $$$ or more on modding your car (ported head, high compression short-block, cams, intake manifold, header, etc.) and still not be as fast. Hahn Racecraft & Star Performance both make bolt on kits with the proper supporting mods to go really fast on that engine reliably. You should check them out or any other venders that make a kit that I don't know about.

Hope this helps, Mike.

I wouldn't purchase header unless I was gonna go all-motor, for sure. Which I believe he's doing, so a header can't hurt, but you probably won't see much gains out of a header with minimal mods. I would probably put my money into UDP. And wait on the header. If you need more help on what parts to get check www.2gnt.com. They will give you idea of when you'll see the best gains out of your mods. On their forums they pretty much say a negative on the header. But, it's your money.

I got the flowmaster rear section exhaust. i have to say i like it alot. power was felt and the tone is deep and low. i just need to go to a shop and have some piping from the cat to muffler replaced with mandrel bend stuff. :thumb:

as for the header i decided not to get it and get a hahn Stage 1 turbo!!! not as expencive as i thought. i saw a dyno on a full exhaust on the www.importtuner.com site and it only added like 5 HP to a RS. i have an RS! but hahn said an rs will get about 200-215hp and i like that better. but first i have to fix my leaky head gasket!!!
