I'm at wit's end with this car. Every time I get it fixed, something else goes wrong.

Currently:

Car is flooding itself out every time I try to start it. Can smell it out the exhaust, and when I pull a plug after cranking, its soaked in fuel.

Plugs are properly gapped, and all 4 are getting spark.
I have a KNOWN working MAF in
Car is perfectly timed

I was told coolant temp sensor, and replaced it with a new unit. I got the car to run a couple times, but then I pulled a code for the coolant temp sensor? So today I swapped the old one back in, and still won't start. It acts like it wants to right as you start cranking, then floods.

I also pulled codes for : MAF, IAT, and Baro sensor (put known good maf in, put known good MDP sensor in)

Background Info: When I first got the car, timing was off, but I'm 98% sure no valves are bent. It never had a problem starting though. Re-timed it, all new belts, car started up perfect. Next day took like 25 seconds of cranking before it started. Next day it wouldn't. Pulled plugs, and they were black as hell. When the car runs, and you rev it in park, when you hit boost, you can see a cloud of black smoke coming out the back, so that tell's me its always running rich.

I supposed I havn't changed the fuel filter, but that wouldn't make sense.
Maybe theirs a possible bad wire on the MAF? Ughhhhhhhhhh

Btw, car is a 96 awd auto turbo. STOCK STOCK STOCK.

Thats what I plan on doing tomorrow.

How do you check fuel pressure on a stock car? Is their a provision somewhere on the line for a fuel pressure gauge?

I actually have no idea LOL, as I've never done it. There is a section about it in the Haynes manual though, I just skimmed over it. Autozone or w/e has fp testers you can rent.

If you're pulling codes for the MAF, IAT, and Baro, it's something with the MAF. Usually it's you didn't plug it in all the way. Check that. If that doesn't work, pull the ECU and check the sensor grounds for anything blown.

You may know the sensor is good, but you still need to make sure the wiring and ECU are good. Everyone just assumes that the wiring will never have an issue.

Somewhere in there (I can't say where since I don't have your manaul) is a step by step troubleshooting process (unless it is a cheap aftermarket). Other than that, take it to someone that knows what they are doing. Those are my suggestions. But if you do take it to someone, make sure you ask questions and learn so you can do it later.

just saw another thread about sensor grounds, and I guess I didn't know the o2 sensors on this car were such a huge deal.

Would blown sensor grounds really make the car run so rich that it wouldn't start, and shot black smoke out the back when boosting?
