I have a 90 Galant GSX and the passenger side rear flex brake line has a hole in it. The brake lines in that section on the Galant and my 90 Eclipse GSX appear to be the same. My question and i am trying to bring my fustration down, is how to get the flex section off the hard line section. When i tried with two wrenches, the top small bolt stripped and the hard line started to spin inside that small bolt. So i really need a way to get the hard line and the flex section seperated, since i have been pndering for a week and the car needs to be out of the garage this weekend! I appreciate any help and will provide any more information i can if needed. I have searched all over the boards and it seems no one else has had the same problem as me. PLEASE HELP!
Ron

Hold the nut on the flex line with a wrench and use vicegrips on the stripped hard line.

housegsx,
Thank you for the quick response! I tried that exact way and that nut is not coming loose, i used the PB blaster, it has been sitting in it for days! It didnt work. Is there any way to make the hard line loose from the small nut it goese into just to gte it off and then thread a new nut on the end of the hard line? Thanx!

If you end up having to cut the hard line, you would have to find a new end and also flare the brake line which isn't exactly that easy. I had the same problem though. I stripped 1 or 2 of mine even when I used a line wrench. I sprayed it and let it soak, then give the nut a couple of good smacks with a screwdriver and hammer. Then get vicegrips with some good teeth and lock them around the nut as tight as you can squeeze them. This really should break it free.

Thank you for your help Housegsx, it worked! Now i have one more question before i leave to get the new line, the nut that sit at the end of the hard section that connects into the flex section that moves, will fluid leak or will it be ok? Thank you!

No, it should seal just fine. That's what the flare on the end of the hard line is for. But always check for leaks anyway after you tighten everything up and bleed the brakes.
