Hi i have a 97 gst with a 6bolt engine and head in it so what all would i need to do to the car to run a dsm link?

and also with a dsmlink could i set it to where i can let the BOV into the atmospher or no?

A 95 e-prom ecu is needed. You can vent the bov if you have a gm-maf setupin blow through. Also I would highly reccomend a wideband.

Ok a e-prom ecu i belive i know some one who has one

after getting the ecu is it as simple as swaping it out or any i going to have to solder and stuff ?

You have to have somebody socket the ecu for you. The guys at ecmtuning (DSMLink makers) can do this for you if you send them the ecu.

ok so i buy the ECU and send it off or do i need to get the dsm link and send them both off togather?

You need the ECU, then you send it in after you purchase dsmlink, they will socket your ECU and put in your chip(with defaults you select). They then send the ECU, software, cable, instructions, stock chip, etc. back to you. You then put the socketed ECU in the car and hook it back up.

To make adjustments, you plug the cable into your OBDII port and into your computer.:thumb:

There were a few wires to solder like the clutch cutoff or something like that I don't quite remember but its only like two wires to solder and splice into pin 91. They send you instructions on how to do it. Then its as simple as plugging in the clips.

Those wires are only if you want to use antilag or nlts though. So they don't have to be hooked up.

Oh well they really aren't that hard to solder really but to each his own!!

I know. I was just pointing that out just in case they want to plug in the ecu and tune without any extra down time. Or maybe those features are useless like on my car. I don't want to risk breaking the trans or transfer case but I installed it anyway for the future.

Check in the Vendor Announcements for deals. There's one vendor that recently posted that they're selling DSMlink for $514.99 shipped.

I would recommend buying it directly from ECMTuning. That way you will get the unit itself and all the tech support you'll ever need from the creators themselves and the many other knowledgeable users of it.

Edit: Or, I suppose you could get it from a vendor. I'm assuming if they're a DSMLink vendor that you can get a forum account with it as well.

I purchased DSMlink from a indirect seller and can verify that I have access to DSMlink forum support. Just ask the vendor to verify that you will get forum support help or not.

QUESTION

So when u buy the DSM link, whats the expensive part, the software? bc theres something you can download from their site, but im assuming its just a demo right? and then u need the eprom for the ecu and the cord....
