Hello Everyone,
Just reeived a 91 Talon TSI AWD (stick) for free, runs good 110,000 miles on it. I was gonna just use it as a daily driver/beater. But I am new to imports of any make. Currently I have a 500hp supercharged fox body mustang. I know what it takes or took to get that car to where it is now. Most of my friends are into new and old american iron. Since winter is around the corner I thought why not do some things to the talon to suprise and maybe even send some of my friends cars home scratching their heads ass I either kick their ass or give them a truen run for their money. I am not looking for for 500hp but it would be nice to get this thing around 350 to 400. I have been going through the different posts and just thought maybe someone could point me to some other builds etc. For reference on where to start, smart.

Not just upping the boost and praying.

Thanks again,
Jim

The first thing I would do on a 1G is basic maintenance. Take car of any oil leaks, replace plugs and wires etc..Make sure you replace the timing belt and the components that go with that service like the tensioner. I feel its best to make sure the car is in proper order before mods. Good luck with your build!

+1 on t-belt and change ALL fluids. I would also change the knock sensor for a new unit and do a comp test to check the health of the engine.
Get a boost gauge, the factory one is a calculated guess from the ecu.
Pull the ecu and check the condition of the board. They have a history of leaky capacitors.
You can search that topic.
