I finally got a datalogger setup. I got a cable from B2k and was using the tunerstein on my laptop, but I borrowed my friend's palm and used mmcd, much better.

I had just a couple quick question. Tunerstein showed 3 error codes (C.E.L isn't on). One for the o2 sensor, knock sensor, and air sensor. I replaced the o2 sensor several months ago, and while I was tuning w/ the mmcd the o2 sensor seemed to cycle normally, so I wasn't sure what it meant. I have a MAFT setup and the car runs fine w/ it on, my fuel trims were all about 100%, so I don't know if the code is just bc I have a MAFT.

I keep hitting fuel cut around 4k. I don't have the RPM wire hooked up but I didn't think I should be hitting it as my car should be rich w/ the rewire plus the maft wot switch set a couple clicks rich. I haven't set the RPM mode switches yet but I felt like I should at least be able to get a full pull through 3rd.

So should I be worried about the codes? My car has a pretty loud tick for the first min or two of running, then goes away. And I just wanted an opinion on my car hitting fuel cut, wasn't really sure why.

Lifter tick is coomon, wouldn't really worry about the codes if your CEL isn';t on and everything is normal, and your hitting fuel cut because the ECU is seeing to much airflow.

Clear the ECU by cutting power to it, and if the condes don't come back you're fine.

Richening up the WOT makes fuel cut worse, not better.

Log the airflow, and see how high it goes...if it doesn't go above 1600Hz it's not fuel cut, it's that you're probably running WAY too rich.

If it is fuel cut, you've just got to buy some larger injectors.

:thumb: I'll try leaning out wide open and check for boost leaks later too. I'm not sure what I was thinking, the car was pretty rich as-is w/ the maft on, I could stand to lean it out a bit.

thanks for the help guys, I'll log the airflow and post the results later.

I reset the ECU tonight. I was messing w/ the logger/maft while my car idled. My o2's fluctuate normally and I looked around on pocketlogger and fullthrottle's board but didn't really find an answer to suffice.

I set the base to 2, and then richened the idle 2-3 clicks. I then messed w/ the base and the idle switches. My low fuel trim stayed at 118% always while my FTO2 hovered around 140-150. I could get it to 120 but the car would stumble when I gave it gas. When I shut it off base was 2, idle was 3, FTLT was 118% while FTO2 was 140.

I also have my wot set to 3 clicks (no rpm tuning yet), and that's what confusing me. If I'm way too rich, how would the same number of clicks suffice at idle but be incredibly rich at wot? I'm still on the learning curve of datalogging but any quick help is appreciated.

What version is your MAFT?

WOT and idle are two different things, you can't tune them the same. Start with the WOT knob at zero, and go from there.

Tune the base knob using the hi fuel trim, or the O2 trim at a highway cruise.

There is a version 2.0+ tuning guide over at the Full Throttle forums.

I have 2.08. I've read the tuning guide and the instructions that it came w/ several times over. Just to be on the safe side I set the wot setting a couple clicks rich since I had the idle/mid settings on 2-3 and the numbers seemed to be where they should. It just seemed odd that the idle setting would need to be rich while the wot would be set at 0 or even leaned out a bit.

Thanks for the help, I'll tune the base on the hwy first. I was trying to do it at 35-45. I'm using to tuning a holley projection system on a mustang, this is pretty different. Takes some getting use to.

Well I got it basically set today. Base is 2, Idle is 5, mid 1, wot isn't set yet, no real good place to do a 2-6K pull around here.

My fuel trims were FTLT 118%, FTLM = 101% FTLH = 98%. I get knock occassionally driving around, I need to fine tune it. At most I'd see was 3 at a time. Time for some MMMC.
