I am starting my car this weekend after it has been off the road for a year. I have done Fuel lines, Cams, Battery relocation, Timing Belt, New Tranny, New Clutch and New flywheel surface. Any tips on things to do before starting? Ive left the valve cover off so i can oil up the cams right before i try starting it. i will appreciate anyones input. :talon:

Did you put assembly lube on everything in the head that makes contact with other parts?
Did you prime the oil pump?
Did you drain the gas and put new gas in it?
Change the oil?
Check/change the coolant?

Make sure the battery is charged up. Then remove the 20A fuse that says "Engine/Moteur". It is located in the engine bay fuse box. This will allow car to crank w/out starting. Do this several times to circulate some oil through the engine.

Change the oil. Make sure to prime the engine till you get oil pressure. Pull the MPI fuse and crank it over till you get oil pressure. Also don't beat on it when you get it running. The fuel that's in your tank might not still be at the octane level when you tore it down a year ago. You will get tons of knock on old crappy gas. I would drive it conservatively untill it's out of gas. Then, once you fill her up then let'r rip!! Plus that will give you some time to iron out any other kinks you may have.
