Well this my first at a retrofit. And I'm also posting this to get my post count up ;-). So I took your basic 2g talon lights and used a heat gun to get them apart. After apart I cut a hole big enough to fit the projector in. The projectors are from a cadillac cts. I then painted the chrome housing white and also removed the orange turn signal. These pics are all I have so far ill get more as I work on them so more. Opinions and constructive critism welcome. Thanks!

Good work, just a question because im curious, ow do you make sure they project the beam in the ideal spot? Like not too high or not too low?

Not trying to troll, but what exactly is the point of this instead of getting new headlights?

skater- from what i keep reading is that you measure the center of your headlights to the ground, set up a rig that would be close to this height. measure about 25ft away from a wall and also measure and mark the height that you measured your headlights at. play with it that way until you get the desired output and aim. mount them in permanent and pray that your factory screw adjustments work to do the fine tuning when everything is installed. how i explained that well enough for you

sharkbait- the reason for doing a retrofit besides a look thing is that this is the proper way to actually have hids. instead of having that nasty glare with low light output on the road just like pic #1

in these other two pics of a retrofit you can see the cut off so your not blinding other drivers and how much more of a lightout you get on the road, also on how wide of a lightout put aswell.

The way I did it was to mount the headlight on my stand. Factory. Put a bulb in, fire it on the wall. Mark the wall. Now leave it on the rig. Do your retrofit. Then back to the stand. Use the up and down to aim height. Twist the projector to aim rotation (not left to right but like how you'd turn a door nob). Then tighten everything down. Build your shroud. Put the lense back on.

How are you holding the projectors in place in the light?
What shroud are you using?

You need to polish up those lenses, other then that can't wait to see it finished. I'm working on my 3rd retro for my Talon, using TL projectors.

Is it neccesary to use a shroud? I did mine with tsx projectors but did not use a shroud. I don't know if it effects light output.

currently the projectors are just chillin in the housing, not mounted bolted or anything i just took pics of them with the lens on them to see what they would look like. i have not yet ordered any shrouds but there are 3 i have in mind from trs.com. the apollo, gti-r and the orbit. i keep debating whether i to paint the reflector where the projector white or leave it and just paint the shroud white when i get it.

also yes the lenses are getting worked over so they will look brand new when this process is all done.
4gst to be completely honest i am not 100% sure if you have to run a shroud. imo it may just be a cosmetic thing but i did notice with the cts projectors i have there is holes on the sides of them they let light out so i would assume that would have to be covered?? i can post pics if need be if no one understands.

Running a properly fitted projector at 35w will be just fine in your housings.

You should have to worry about heat, I didn't have an issues with my old quad projector retros.

Here's a bit of advise though OEM bulbs (Phillips, Osram, etc) and OEM ballasts with run cooler then after market stuff.

Beena while sinceive updated this. Been doing some research to try to finish these the right way. I've been researching the jnc mountng method on hidplanet.com blurred talon turned me to this method. My attempt at it is kinda of but its also my first retro and first attempt at the jnc method. So on to the pics leave me some feedback! Sorry some of the pics are upside down

Been sandin the outer headlight lens and clear coatin them. Gonna order some shrouds soon and slap everything together. I'll get some pics up soon of the output when I mount em to adjust the cutoff line!

get the e46 extended shroud i think it is, trim to fit the headlight, paint it white to match the car. once my headlights are cleared and looking brand new then use some 3m butyl to seal them back together and then figure out what h.i.d. system i want to run.
