Hey whats up everyone!! So the gas prices are getting out of control and I drive a gas guzzling 1994 mustang cobra 5.0L. So Im new the the 4cyl scene. The talon TSI is one of my favorite non v8 cars next to the evo and wrx. I might be interested in trading my cobra for a talon tsi turbo awd. How are these cars on gas and so on? I have heard they make great DD cars and are still a blast to drive.

they are good on ags and fun to drive but if your gonna consider modding it be prepared to spend some money this arnt cheap cars to work on

Thats what I kinda figured. I know my car is fairly cheap to mod, to an extent. I know the "import" cars or "DSM" cars are a bit more expensive on parts. How hard are they to work on your own? I am fairly good with my hands. I deffinetly do not mind modding it at all. I love modding cars. Just want something that is a bit better on gas and still as fun to drive. The modding will come with any car, but I guess if you mod them alot the gas mileage comes down? What kinda power is typical of these cars?

The Talons are acctually fairly easy to work on. They don't have A TON of space to move around with, but compared to working on a rotary engine, it's a cakewalk.

I still get a decent gas mileage while pushing 315whp on 18 pounds of boost as my daily driver. I have 560cc injectors and a 255lph fuel pump as well. I still burn way less gas than my buddy Austin's almost stock 2000 Trans Am Ram Air WS6.

These cars are VERY easy to make fast. As with any car, like you said, you can expect the gas mileage to go down with the more mods you do.

But hey, look at the bright side. 4 cylinders less to feed.

i dont know about what you guys said but i found muscle cars way more easier to work on, and ive helped my stepdad do alot of them from derby cars to drag and imports are way harder for me.. but maybe thats just because i have a 420a and they have a wholelot less parts and require more custom fabrication than the 4g63's(man i wish i had one but i cant find one nowhere in my area within 300 miles thats reasonable:( )

wht size tanks are in the talon tsi turbos? Hurleyatticus4 wht kinda miles do you get in a tank?

The tanks are something like 14 or 15 gallon. You can get about 300 miles per tank. Ive gotten 31 mpg trying very hard. Usually its low 20s.

Okay, dammit.

There's an introduce-yourself thread. Use it.

Read the FAQ, and use the search. So far you've not asked a new question.
