Well, I finished mounting my 60mm peak+warning Greddy oil pressure gauge on the door vent. I basically followed the directions off of this link. The only differences that I did was that I used aluminum instead of plastic. Also, when I wired it through the weatherstripping, I noticed that the wires from the door panel to the weatherstripping pinched when the door closed. So I fixed that by wrapping some vacuum hose around the wiring and cut a small opening in the door panel so that the hose would travel inside the door panel when the door closed.

Now, I have one problem with the stainless steel line and the sender. For some reason, I can screw the sending unit only half way onto the stainless steel line. I'm not going to leave it like that for obvious reasons.

im not familar with greddy, but is it a mechanical gauge ? id hate the thought of having that line going through my door , being opened daily. maybe im wrong though, dunno. btw, do you have 2 turbo timers ?

Thanks. The gauges are also electronic. Costs about 240 for the gauge though. Ouch. In the end, it comes out nicely. :thumb:

Looks really good! I would love to have those gauges instead ofthe Apex ones. One question, why didin't you just buy a 3 pillar A-pod? I have only known a couple people who put gauges there but they hated it. Just wondering. Again very good looking.

240 isnt that bad, im going defi, 180 , i dont know ifs it mechanical or electronic though, anyways , nice job :thumb:
btw, kinda looked like the hks tt, didnt know though, im to poor, mbc here

Talk about some really cool GAYges. How can you see your 02 volts when your timer is positioned practically under the steering wheel on the left?

Well, it used to be positioned on the steering column but I moved it because of the EBC. It is a questionable move, I know. Also, the pic was taken as if I was driving it and loocking over, so it's not completely blocked unless the steering wheel is turned slightly, in which case I won't be looking at my o2's, rather the road. Thanks for your comment about the GAYges. Also, do you think I have a really hot boost GAYge? .

Also, Clevsilverclip, I wouldn't use those things, for gauges at least. If you were to open the insulation, there are about 8-10 wires there. For speakers, I still wouldn't use it unless you are rewiring the whole thing. Save your 15-20 bucks.

Also, its the Greddy Spec 2 BC, apexi turbo timer (pen style) and the gauges are Greddy P+H.

No 3 hole pillar for me, looks too cluttered, IMO.

WTF

Thanks for the warning! :thumb:

that has got to be the most retarded place for a gauge. its too low to view and to far left you might as well stuck it in the glove box. gauges are to monitor your engines vitals and need to be placed where you can view them easily. you should have just used a triple gauge pilar or used the instrument cluster bezal or this I would just hate for anything to happen to you if you look down to check your oil pressure and you get into some kind of accident.

Yeah its not the best spot at all for a gauge. Its like what those showcars do and mount 50 gauges all around the interior for the look and you know they dont ever use them.

The gauge is actually a warning gauge, so a bright red light will blink if the pressure is too low or too high. Then, I would just pull over, not stare at the needle while I'm driving. Also, the products in the links have spots for 2 gauges, not one. If they were able to hold just one, I'd jump on it and buy it right now.

ClevSilverEclip, those are for bare wires, not wire looms, or whatever they are called. In a gauge, there are several wires in the loom (~10). They don't make them for 10 wires. I don't know exactly what the "wtf" was for so I'm trying to reword it.

Well, thanks for everyone's, well almost everyone's, serious critiquing. I might just change it's location if they come out with a single gauge holder (3 gauges are the absolute max I want, anymore else would just look tacky and stupid.) Thanks for your concerns also but using the word "retarded" feels more insulting than constructive criticism.

BTW, this is how bright the light is while the lights are off. Pretty noticable IMO. While the headlights are on, it's a little dimmer but still noticable. This pic doesn't justify how bright it is though.

I dont see how that's a bad place for a gauge at all. in fact, I think we might do that to our project. Looks very slick and it doesnt seem to be blocked at all. Nice work! :thumb:

I personally think it looks badass. I remember about 2.5 years ago a company actually made a pod for that spot like the one you made and I almost bought it; however, I didnt have a gauge at the time to put in it so I never got around to it.

I think for a gauge that does NOT need to be monitored all the time its a perfect location. Its just like using the cigarette lighter spot like I did where I put the disco light show (a/f).

Good stuff man! :thumb:

.
didn't know you were that sensitive. you know I gave you my HONEST opinion and I also went through the trouble of posting not one but two links for other gauge placement so how was that insulting? if you ask for opinions you should be able to handle them or not post them at all. please don't take your ball and go home.

the insrument cluster bezel is hard to see aswell...

i think his gauge location looks pretty good and if the warning light came on it would def. get your attention...

Sorry, sometimes I'm sensitive about my work. Thanks for your input though. I really do appreciate it, you made your point, explained why you thought of that, gave some examples of an alternative, and even cared about my well being. That is what you did and should be the model for criticism. I'm not trying to start anything but I was talking about your terminology, thats all. These days aren't the happiest in my life, so I may be moody at times. ROFL LOL! :D :) :| :(  :coy:

To everybody, thanks for your input. :thumb:

Also, anybody know what is going on with the two lines not fully connecting? They are on one side of the ss braided line with the sending unit. The sending unit I'm talking about is the one that has a bracket for it, that hunky metal thing with wires coming out of it. I'll try to get some pics if you need them.

Here are the pics. You can see that they don't seem to thread all the way through.

it should be ok, just make sure to tighten them pretty good with a couple of wrenches. maybe use some teflon tape.

Well, I'll leave it to my mechanic when he does the 6 bolt swap. I hope it doesn't break, those sending units aren't cheap. Thanks for the quick reply too.
