so i know some of you have a single gauge in your door vent, did you just make it or is it out there to buy somewhere?

A friend of mine bought a boost gauge for his 97 gsx, and he wants to put it in that door vent. I was going to give him a hand with it, and I was just wondering, for those of you who have done/seen it, how do you route the vacuum line? I was thinking I could go through the rubber boot into the fender well, but then can you get access to the engine bay from that space? I have searched and found a few pictures of the finished product and a few websites on how to make a faceplate for the gauge, but none explain how/where to run the vacuum tubing.
.Here are the pics. You can see that they don't seem to thread all the way through.
.I like... what did you use to "glue" the mounting plate to the old door vent. I like the cleanliness of not having any screws showing.
BTW... i'm thinking of mounting my Voltmeter in this location. This is a perfect example of a gauge that doesn't need to be monitored all the time.
