Finally got some dyno numbers on the 14b

I recently checked out

www.dsmtimes.org

and now there are no less than 20 T/E/L's 14b powered in the 12's

Now just imagine how many individuals have not bother to post on there, including me.

I guess people are finally getting the point that the 14b has plenty of potential in it and it does not always take crazy horsepower figures to generate great times.

That's surprising, I expected more power than that.

My car, weighing in at 3220 with me seated, has done 108 mph, with approximately the same mods (or lack therof:) ) that Phil has. I guess when you factor in weight, his additional 4-5 mph makes some more sense.

I was under the impression that my car was making about 300 whp, perhaps this is not true....

I'd like to say I still think its impossiable to run a 12.0 with only 265.9 hp and 281.7 tq with the car weigh in at 2815 with him in it. Phil could you by any chance scan a copy of the time slip so i can compare times and mph along with a dyno sheet? Casue I think I should be faster with 266.8 hp but still not close to 12.0 we pretty much have the same hp and i assume your 60 foot was at least 1.7 or better. Tonight I got my Alcohol injection working and boost set at 20psi, im ready for the dyno. hoping for 280 hp on pump gas and 300 with race gas, So ppl tell me if I have 300 wheel hp and run down the track with out any problems I should hit 12.0? Id be happy with 12.8

I watched it...many times. Hell I was lined up next to him at one point or another.

Phil is a stand up guy and doesn't bullsh!t about his mods, times, or hp numbers. He recently left CT to go to work for Extreme Motorsports. He's knows what he is doing.

Perhaps you think my 12.50's with nothing but and exhaust, K&N, boost and a race weight of 2885 is not real either.

You run a shop, you should know better.

For those who haven't seen Phil run...he's one HELL of a driver.

I am also going to back Phil up on this. Last summer, at LVD, I watched him run a 12.08 multiple times. Please remember that this is at 3000+ elevation, and the temp was 98 degrees! He is one hell of a guy, and very willing to lend me a hand. He also taught me how to launch. As to how he is getting these rediculous numbers, he just knows how to drive. Every run I saw him take was within .002 of the next. Consistency and ability. That and his car has nothing in it, and yes the mods stated above are dead on. When Phil says that his 14b is ported, he's not joking. I spoke to a friend of his a while ago and was told that the amount of porting on his turbo is just sick. Although, if I'm not mistaken, I thought he had a bushcur 3" cat-back, and not an ATR. Jay, is this right?

Dude I think you either need a new clutch or you just plain suck. My friend has a WRX with exhaust that will race you. $600 in mods and will still whomp dat A$$.

Hey-- Well I think im gonna hold off on the 50trim for a while just to cetch The Man PHIL. I have a dyno in my shop and a drum of race gas. hmm unlimited dyno runs to get max hp on the 14b, along with a race track 5 minutes away.

13.3 237 hp pump gas
???? 266.8 hp pump gas

Now i got a 2g with a b16 and i can only hit about 17psi on race gas..
with stock injectors.....what would my hp be near
 
...is it me or or you not gettin this Kevin guy? I guess he doesn't know I have unlimited dyno access and a track 20.2 miles from my apartment.

Agree or disagree? Dyno numbers are nice to see, but the track is where it counts......

Yeah i think i probobaly have one of the coolest jobs sometime. I'm a mechanic's apprentice but i also have to do the Mitsubishi PreDelivery Inspections and so far i've driven a RED, BLUE, BLACK, and WHITE Lancer Evo 8 on testdrives. Sometimes i can't belive i actualy get paid to drive such a nice turbocharged car. And the guys at extreme like to see them in person too.

Phil, i see 11's in the picture this race season for you.
 
I sure hope so.....still more to do if needed on that little turbo set-up, like actually putting an AFCin the car....it's in the closet at home, I'd like to keep it there if possible until the turbo upgrade, but, you were there dyno day....I'm running pretty damn rich.......AFC...just pull a little fuel out and watch the power increase......I really want 11's with NO other control than the stock ECU..............gimmie nice weather man!!!! What's going on down here in Balt.? I guess we're lucky the tornados haven't made it here....

Phil,

What kind of weight reduction do you have done? Other than the usual a/c, interior, etc, have you gotten rid of bumpers, replaced with fiberglass parts?
 
Yeah i'm also interested about the weight mods phil, i'm looking to do alot of weight mods to my talon but i still want a comfortable daily driver. Yeah i think it's rained evert weekend for about 2 months now! I think with some fuel control that dsm will go down in the 1/4 mile history books for 11's with the fewest mods. I just can't belive the numbers that your ride puts on the board. Hopefully i can follow in those footsteps but i think with just a catback for now, mid 14's would please me.
