ok, sorry to rant, but i just saw the homepage with the fidanza axle special

WTF are they thinking making stronger driveshafts for NON turbo 95-99's when the ONLY people who need them are the GST and gsx guys

I dont understand how some companies operate

I need an affordable set of driveshafts for my 99 gst and cant get them anywhere unless i spend $700+

Why cant they make an application for a market who is actually in demand?

Its like HKS making an exhuast for a fiesta...wtf would you even bother?
 
I've broken two axles in my neon which uses the same transmission as the 5speed 2gnt. Do you really want to start another 2gnt vs 4g63 debate because that's really where this is going to end up.

Frequently, things like this that seem really stupid will make sense when you have more information :) It's not uncommon for a parts shop to custom make a part like that for a special customer with a certain vehicle. Then, they sell it (since they already know how to make it) for any vehicle that it will fit...

About 150$ if I remember correctly. And they are called axles, not driveshafts.
 
Axles, CV shafts, CV Axles... I think it's kind of point to argue about the terminology.

Also, Raxles claims to rebuild to "as good a new oem" ones. Fidenza's are "30% stronger than stock".

For the record, I have Raxles axles in both our 1g and 2g, and they're holding up just fine for now with fairly regular autocross use and occasional trips to the dragstrip.
 
The first axle failure I had on the neon was the exact same as the one Dennis Grant experienced. I inspected the first axle when replacing it and it snapped in the EXACT same spot on a 3,000 RPM launch at the drag strip.

I have not removed this second axle yet as I am still waiting on the Fidenza to come up. However, I did lay under the car and it FEELS the same way as it did last time and I expect the outcome to be the same.

Adding to what I had said before about Raxles and Fidenza, the quotes I gave were from the distributors themselves. To be quite honest the Dennis Grant situation was the first time I've heard anything bad about Raxles. There's quite a few people around here the autocross and they all were pushing Raxles on me as well. The big deciding factor for me was that since the axle I have now is no longer good to anyone I would have to pay the core charge. That put me close enough to the price of the Fidenza that I wanted the "30% stronger than stock" axles.

I'll take pictures of the broken axle when it comes out and the new one when it goes in.

Damn, I never noticed they didnt make them for the 2G turbo's..... that sucks. :thumbdown

Edit: I just spoke with Brad at Fidanza. He stated that the 2G turbo axles are in "consideration" right now. They have a small list of cv shafts they are in demand, and 2g turbo is on there. He said they'll know more by spring..... :thumb:
