Fidanza short shifter 1G & 2G [Merged 3-7]

Fidanza now makes short shifters for 1g's. Does anyone have one of these or have any info on them.

To those who have bought the 1G Fidanza Short Throw, maybe you noticed this also. Theres no stop!!! I beleive that using this shifter will make it possible to overthrow the shift forks in the trans causing them to break. Im trying to see if anyone else has drilled a bolt through the darn thing and threaded in a bolt to act as a stop. I dont think it would be to hard doing that part, but I'd like to rap the protruding bolt with something so I dont get a clank everytime I shift. Damnit, $80 for a shifter. You'd expect the dam thing to be made right.

I already broke a 3/4 shift fork last week. I pulled my trans, replaced the fork, pulled the shifter and threw it in the garbage. Waste of money. After a few hard shifts you WILL break a shift fork. You can probably drill a hole(s) in the shifter base and put an adjustable bolt on both sides to control how far the shifter will move but I'd rather just use my stocker.

Also, I'm not sure how similar they are but I have a pacsetter short throw shifter that was missing the stopper too. I just pulled the stopper off my n/t and put it on the tsi.

Thanks for the link, Im gonna try and rig something up. This really sucks, i wanna use the shifter for the shorter throw but I sure in the hell dont wanna break anything. Thanks god I havent drivin on it yet. This really chaps my ass. :thumbdown

This is the OBX shifter, Identical to the Fidanza. I circled where a stop is suppose to be.

Well, Im usually not to hard on the thing, I shift slow or pretty easy on the thing because I know these tranny's dont like it. Im still gonna make a custom stop in the lever for added assurance, but I recommend to all using the 1g short shifters without a stop, go easy on it, dont pile drive the thing into gear without a stopper. You can end up like ryanman.

I'll post results in the next few days of my custom work with the thing.

I've been trying to find a good short throw shifter for a 1G as I dont have access to a welder to cut mine down.

Well today well I was looking for some other parts I happened across Fidanza Short Throw Shifter for 90~94 DSM's. I've never heard anyone speak about these before. New? Anyone know how good they are?

They only cost like $10 bucks more then it would cost me to have a local shop mod my stock shifter into a short throw.

Good luck finding a short shifter to fit the 90. I'm using a 94 tranny with a 92 shifter assembly and cables.

i wanted to know if anyone was using the Fidanza shifter and i wanted to know what everyone thought of it. It is a lot cheaper then the B&M, but from what I hear Fidanza makes really good products.

Yet your blaming the shifter on it, when everyone knows the shift fork is a weak point of the transmission

And? They should've put a stop on the shifter when they built it.

I got one and have been driving on it for a couple days. I plan on making a stop for it when i get the time. I suggest making a stop or just dont slam the gears.
