So I probably didn't need it, but I bought a new insert to go with the new clutch and pressure plate. Installation was pretty straight forward. It looks like there is some sort of coating on the face of the insert? I hosed it down many times with brake cleaner and scrubbed it. The "coating" is still there. Think I should go a step farther and get out some red scotch brite and remove this it completly? I'd assume I want a nice clean ruffed up surface for proper break in. Using a feramic clutch.

When I installed my new Fidanza flywheel with my new ACT 2600, I didnt even preclean the friction surface at all. While Im not sure whether or not you should clean it, I never had any issues with my setup, and I was running the drag strip the day I put the last break in mile on it!!

A degreaser on the surface would be all you would need to get any residue off.
