my brother just got his first car (the one stated/pictured above) and i had a few questions about it

Now ive done alittle research on it, (used it a ton to see if i could find a post like this/find out some info about this car) i know its a 2.0L different engine from the tsi

however i was wondering if a used tsi kit would fit on this car without major mods.. or would it be easier to just buy a kit designed for the car

i have and still own mustangs and installed superchargers (vortech v1 s-trims) since before i was driving, however id like to give him something to keep up with big bro LOL plus ive been waiting for a new project to come up and slap a turbo on something

i figured people upgrade their tsi turbos and shit all the time and get rid of the stock set up, i seen the stock set up runs around 10psi, i was thinking 6-8psi for his car tho, something that you will notice but still very reliable seeing how it is his/will be his DD

was just kinda interested in doing this, its not my car, i dont plan on putting a ton of money into it, i figured if i could find him a used tsi stock turbo/kit for the right price id throw it on for him and let him have alittle fun

thanks Andrew

You will not be able to simply install the turbo system from a 4G63T on your 420a. They are completely different engines that mount on opposite sides. It is possible to turbo a 420a, but in my opinion it isn't really worth the money and effort when a budget kit will not even get you on par with a stock turbo DSM and may cost more along with the car, then it would've cost you to just buy the turbo DSM in the first place.

well the car was bought because it was cheap, he had no intentions of making it turbo, just something i thought id do if i could get it cheap enough and they were somewhat close, as far as a budget kit if i could piece it together for the right price id consider it, like i said not going to be a 10sec car or have a goal anything like that LOL

It can be done just search around the site, there's plenty of info on it. Like I said though, it usually isn't a very cost-effective thing. You may in fact spend more money in the end then you would've if you sold the ESi and bought a turbo DSM. Good luck with whatever route you go though.

anywho i have no intention of spending more then a few hundo on a turbo kit,

Honestly man, if you only want to spend a "few hundo" on a turbo setup, I would advise against it. You need to think of the other things you will need such as gauges, fuel upgrades, tuning/logging software, etc. Not only that, but the first thing I would suggest to help your brother do to a car that he just got with 120K miles is maintenance before a turbo kit.

Turbo-ing a 420a, in my opinion, is a waste although it is possible and others have done it. I say sell it and purchase a tsi

maintenance, we have already taken care of, honestly i would have no issue doing this for a couple hundred and still have a reliable car, however it would take alittle bit of time to find a few of the items i dont have laying around, not always what you know but who you know ;)

however more then likely its not going to happen, this is just his daily driver, there is no reason to sell it for a tsi, if he wanted a car to go fast he wouldnt buy a esi or tsi in the first place...

It would be hard to turbo a 420a for a few hundred dollars all while trying to have a reliable DD

I think you have your answer as to whether or not to turbo the car then. Tell your brother to enjoy the car and its N/T fuel economy, it looks clean!:thumb:

will do, it is very clean, like i said just wanted to see if a used tsi kit would fit on this car, just something to #### around with and something to rip on once in awhile, i know a couple guys in town with this cars sitting in their backyards and could get the used kit off them with new seals the whole works for cheap due to many plants closing around this area and them out of work.

thank you for your replys and help
