Few Questions....

Alright to start off, just to give a lil back round on the car, i bought this talon as a project car, but certian things happened and i had to sell my Daily driver. SO now i have this running talon but it has problems. I have a just a few vaccuum lines missing right now. The ones from the charcoal canister to the throttle body and from the charcoal canister to the air intake. thats it. Another problem is i thought i had a boost leak, but i am only pushing 4-5 lbs of boost....

Alright guys but any ways here we go, ive looked on the vfaq forums and couldnt find anything really what i was looking for so i was hoping some one could help me here. Ok for one, my idle has been riding rough for a lil bit now and i was hoping it was just i needed new plugs, so i replaced those, nothing changed. So still my idle is riding rough. When im just sitting still im at anywhere from 1000- to 1500. Another weird thing is that when im driving and i put the car in nuetral to brake, it fluxuate beween 1100 to 1500. I dont know what the probelm is but if any one has any ideas that would be great, i do have some vaccuum lines missing but not many. If any one can help me with what might be the problem there it would be great so i know where to start looking or doing to fix this.

My other problem is that i have a bad leak. In the picture below. Sorry i know its not the best pic but i cant find my usb cord to upload any pics i just recently took so im working with what i got. So please bear with me, but any ways. If you can see where the yellow circle is, i can feel air coming out of there and im not talking about a lil air like the air is flowing out of there at a pretty good rate. Now this happened out of no where today. my car use to have a problem too where it would not boost over 4 to 5 pounds of boost and now im boosting around 10-12. All of this seem to happen at the same time. but the problem also is i have a check engine light on and when i go to floor it, it hits to around 12 psi and then my car seems like its starting to bog out, such as if i slammed on the brakes. It really just doesnt seem like it wants to go now after around 3500 rpms or 12 psi. Im guessing the leak right there has a big deal to do with it. If any one can tell me how i could go along to fix ether or both of these problems that would be great!!!

Well our cars run pretty much soley on vacumm. If you have one vacumm leak your car will run terrible. That is your main problem. You can't have any missing lines. That is why you car idles weird.
Another thing you waste gate will not allow you to push 5lbs. You have a boost leak that brings it down to that psi. That actuactor will allow a min of 7-8 pounds. Sooo Boost leak test and start finding all those missing vacumm lines. You have to fix those to make your car run well. That exhaust leak has zero to do with anything. IT is after the turbo and other then making a bad reading to your o2 sersor(slim error) and creating heat it isn't going to hurt you.

I see you have a walbro 255... Do you have a fuel pressure regulator?? You car will not run right if you don't have a fpr. I have seen a 1g idle weird and run terrible not knowing he needed a fpr . What other mods do you know of? Is your mas hooked up. What check engine light are you throwing.

You need to do a boost leak test and go from there. The BLT will also show where your vacuum leaks are. Look up "IC pipe tester" on google. You can make one for cheap and they're easy to use. But before you spend any more money you need to do this first!

Ok not too sound stupid or anything but i kno nothing on dsm's right now so im still learning ya i know i have a walbro 255 fuel pump but i dont know if i have a Fuel pressure regualtor.. where can i look or what can i do to find out if i do

You will have a gauge on or around your fuel rail. If you don't you will need to invest in one to make your car run right. There around 200 bucks.

You should get an adjustable fpr, but if you don't have the money right this moment, don't be too worried about it. There are a lot of people on here that claim to have gone 2 years with a 255 and stock fpr. It's def. not recommended, but it's not a absolute must either.

But he is having problems... I would invest in a AFPR and a wideband o2. The wideband would tell you if you are out flowing your stock fpr. YOu would have alot of rich conditions.

+1 one the rich conditions, he probably is overrunning it.

It depends if it's before or after the turbo. It's hard to tell by the picture but if it's before the turbo you need to get it fixed as it would cause your turbo to take longer to spool up. If it's after the turbo then it's doing nothing bad but making noise and possibly (not likely) melting wires from the heat. So find out where it's coming from. Again a boost leak test with soapy water will help you figure out exactly where it's at.

The pros of a boost leak test cannot be expressed in few words. With a turbo car it should be done at least twice a year. The effects of a boost leak can wreak havoc on a car.
