fabric spray paint, does it work?

I dont think the spray would be a good idea. It will coat the top pretty good (if you apply it evenly) but it wont get the fabric that is at the bottom where its all sewn together. You might have dark/light spots also. I would reccomend a dye as you would get a consistant color through out the whole fabric and it would last longer.

It worked fine on my cargo cover and my subwoofer box. No light/dark spots. But those are not high traffic areas, so I do not have to worry about it wearing off. But only time will tell how the cargo cover does against fading

I've used the spray before. IF you get the higher quality stuff it works pretty well. It will feel kind of stiff for a while and they will smell like spray paint, but that will eventually go away.

^ I can barely tell a difference. I would say use some Dye like most of the others on here. Next time I pull my carpet out that's what's going to happen. Let it sit in a large tub for a full 24 hrs at least.

just finished up my dye...and it came out great.
1. after you take the carpet out leave it overnight in the bucket, with the solution of one simple green and one zep carpet cleaner.
2. get some duplicolor fabric spray medium gray
3. even coats then brush the carpet
4.final vacuum and install

I have used Simply Spray fabric paint for my van's carpeting and seats. It dried softly with no chemical smell. The results were great and it held up. It works like a dye but you do not need to wash out the excess dye like you do with RIT. I used to make tie dyed t-shirts and RIT dye is the worst dye you can find. From my experience the Simply Spray Paint for upholstery is the way to go. If you want to dye it and can rinse out the excess dye use a procion mx dye.
