External wastegate turbocharger

When a turbo is "for use with an external wastegate" does that mean you need to have a wastegate on your o2?

Doesn't necessarily mean it has to be on the o2 housing, but it does require the use of an external wastegate. Placement of the gate is up to you.

O2/exhaust manifold. I just figured O2 would be easier considering the re-route you'd have to get done with an external wastegate on the manifold.

Stupid question...I'm sure you can but I'm going to ask anyways..

You could, although that's a lot of expense unless you're having serious issues controlling your boost level. For most people running under 20psi, the stock internal gate system works flawlessly.

How many thread do you have to start on this topic? If you mount your wastegate on the manifold you can either do a dump tube or fabricating a recirculation dump that goes to your downpipe. If you mount of you o2 housing you can either buy a o2 housing with a dump tube or a recirculation one. It was 1 thread. That thread was about the wastegate being on the exhaust manifold. This one is about the external wastegate being on the O2 and the question I asked was never brought up. I get your point though, that thread should have been about wastegates in general not specifically the wastegate on the manifold.

There are at least a 100 forums of wastegate coming of a manifold or o2 housing, etc... I could literally find an answer faster by doing a search.

There is no part in overloading DSMTuners with questions that have already been clearly answered. At least once a day DSMTuners has a database errors because of this! And I did re-answer his question with little baby pictures to make it easy for him to understand what I was getting at from the very beginning in the other forum he started before he started this one.

I don't know if any of you are members of other DSM forums but DSMtuners actually has a very bad rep for this and makes everyone look like shit. A lot of other sites hate tuners because of these actions.

And its not that I'm too lazy to search its that I can't find an answer to my exact question without reading 10-20 pages because I was about to post other stuff the other day but i said screw it because I know someone is going to have a wise comeback or something and I did a lott of researching and found the answers to some of my questions but it was after reading literally 4 hours.

You sure can. I have an external wastegate off the O2 housing on my internally gated 16G. If you want pictures I can post up a few.

The internet is a very large resource, my friend. You're at will to come and go as you please; no need to put down our site because we didn't answer your question in 30 seconds or less.

Then you're not searching hard enough, or you're not using the proper search terms to arrive at a thread that contains the answer to your question. Once you get to a thread that you feel has potential, you can even use the "search within this thread" feature to narrow the results down further.

None of us are trying to break your balls here, so we'd appreciate it if you'd stop breaking ours.

You see why can be so costly? The dump tube ain't straight, the fabricator has to measure to perfect along with TIG welding it too. Furthermore, if a fabricator can do this he'll set the bar high because there's not many that can or will do this type of job. So if you have a common small size Mitsubishi flange turbo it's best to go the cheapest way possible and put your money elsewhere that will actual help the performance.
