Ok guys so I have a hahn super 16g racecraft set up on my 420a with the wastegate that came with it... Can I upgrade the external wastegate to something that has higher pressure springs in it or can I just change them out? Let me know what you guys think... I really wantto get into some heavier boost.

Whichever would be easier man... I'm still in the beginning stages of understanding about the waste gate. Which would be easier and which would be better pro's vs. cons

Most weld the flange on the pass side of the manifold and dump it down and out. Youll need to either weld the "flapper" int he 16gs housing shut, or find some way to make it stay shut. Since its a log manifold there not much to be concerned about as far as mounting and effiancey.. its all round. Look at the "star" manifold for our cars, it would be the same diffenrce. I would mod you hahn one tho, as iIIRC the star one has the turbo offset a little.

That housing isn't friendly for doing it off the turbine housing. Although it is possible with alot of fabrication. There's also no easy way to weld the flapper shut it you were going to out the gate on the manifold. If you can figure out a way to positively hold the flapper shut, then you can just weld a flange on the manifold for the gate and call it a day.

When I did it on mine, I milled an inch off the housing, then welded the flapper shut, then made a new outlet flange. Lots of work though. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/152764192-post32.html

Most leave the Internal WG on, and make the rod kick out so that it mechanically foces the flapper shut 100%.

I just looked at the website and it says that an external wastegate can be used with it. I wonder if that means that one would have to weld the flapper shut too or if they have some that would work directly with it.

you dont have to weld it, like i said, the endlink screws out, you can mechanically make the Internal WG keep the flapper closed.. then run an external..

Oh that's sweet!!! You da man glowryder, seems like you have already been through everything I have.

is there any certain size wastegate that I should get or any one that you would prefer. I see them from 38mm to 46mm and some that bypass exhaust... what would you recommend? I really want to make the turbo push more, I know it will it seems to be stout just like hits an "anti-boost" barrier once it hits 10psi.

I have a cheap mbc on it but it seems that it still will not let it get over ten pounds. I must have it hooked up wrong.

Ok I found out why my MBC is not working. i'm pretty sure I hooked it up wrong. So I have a vacuum line coming off the turbo, goes to a T fitting, One end goes to the BOV and one goes to the boost controller then to WG actuator. Could this be why it's not working. the BOV is a blitz

yep def got it hooked up wrong. What does my bov vacuum line need to be run to? It is mounted on a flange that is welded onto my turbo piping. Have no clue what to run the vacuum on the top into.
