Ok so i go to a dyno to do some tuning , Guy who owns it gos.... :thumb: wow clean engine bay , nice job , who did the work , blah blah blah :coy: ....

Notice's my AFRP ( aeromotive w/ guage ) and tells me that these guages have known problems of cracking or doing something that cause , Gas to spray all over the engine , and boom?

Is this true , Or is a bunch of :beatentodeath: sh**

I dont believe it , buts its getting me worried gunna go buy a fire ext. just in case LOL

I don't see how gas could spray all over the engine unless the threads completely broke off in the FPR. I find this doubtful. Plus, if you used the correct yellow teflon tape, it shouldn't leak either. Maybe the gauge face itself could break and the fluid inside the gauge itself could come out, but I'm not too sure about that either.

I'd say don't worry about it, but check on it everytime you get gas.

The only way i could see you blowing a gauge would be to over pressurize the thing. Then BOOM.

But you're setting the fuel pressure with the FPR, so there shouldn't be a way for you to exceed the pressure of the gauge.

Idunno, makes sense to me. Unless there's some weird design flaw with gauges where reading constant fuel pressure in a system (regadless of rpm) will explode, than thats news to me.

The gauges do die from all the vibration-mine did, but other then a worthless gauge no worries of leaks.

Yea, sure. If you purchased a POS gauge then it could go, but if you purchased a quality gauge then there should be no worries. I haven't heard of anybodies going, other than from vibration. And then it just became inaccurate or maybe started to leak, but nothing dramatic.

But I guess anythings possible if you don't regularly inspect things.

In a FPR such as Aeromotive the gauge would be in direct contact with fuel correct?(I would assume the pressure port isn't isolated from fuel). If this is true, then yes it is possible but I would say highly unlikely. A pressure gauge is made up of a sealed C shaped tube called a bourdon tube. The pressure/fluid is held in this tube, a change in pressure causes the tube to expand/contract, in turn moving the dial on the gauge face. If the fpr pressure port isn't isolated from fuel it would be possible for a bourdon tube to develop a leak and fill the gauge case will fuel. I guess it would be possible for the bourdon tube to rupture with enough force to blow out the case plug, spilling fuel into the engine compartment but like I said highly unlikely with the kinds of pressure you see in a fuel system.

Alright guys thanks , thats what i figured but i just wanted to check up on it

i have a aeromotive gauge that just exploded and filled with fuel..... i got some pics im gunna upload tonight very weird has anyone else had this issue?????????? i mean i had it set at base 43 psi and running 28+ Psi but i dont see why the gauge would go out and fill with fuel

sorry ddint mean it like it blew up, just sumtin inside popped and started leaking fuel everywere the best part i just relocated the alternator to the back

Have you tried replacing the gauge? This is a pretty interesting discovery. Of all gauges, I would expect Aeromotive to be the least suspectible to breaking since they know what they're doing.

im working on getting a new gauge by this weekend to test everything to see if it was the gauge or the FPR also buying a electronic FPR gauge to monitor the pressure in the car when im at 20+ pounds of boost to see if it is working correctly
