I have just recieved my third Enlarged Muffler Outlet ticket. I'm pretty sick of getting pulled over and having to pay for a $150 ticket each time. I don't know what to do? I have a complete RS-R exhaust system with a 5" tip, any suggestions on what I should do without change the exhaust system?

Enlarged Muffer Outlet ticket? WTF?! What state are you in? I'll have to make a note to never go there. Thats the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. What about factory vehicles with "large" exhaust outlet tips? Whats the legal limit? I can't beleive some of the crazy things peoples' states can make money on. Thats just.... over the line.

:notgood: I'm from Edmonton, Alberta, in Canada. They say you shouldn't be able to put a pop can in your exhaust outlet, its such a ### ticket to get, they don't even give noise pollution tickets here. The stupid thing is a 350Z is equipped with a 4" tip from the factory, and those Dodge Cummings Diesels have a 5.5" tip. Its just a extra cash for the government, and another excuse for the cops to pull you over.

Well I'm not familiar with your government but if they're are anything like our then take their asses to court. Dude if you were in the states I'd say your getting punked by the police, but your a canadian and I dont know your laws, eh!

PS: An easy fix to your problem would be to do what I did and get a set of the twin tips that rre sells for like $40 and you could roll with the stock look that I have. I have 272's and the past week it seems like cops have just happend to turn the corner and end up behind me and they dont even give me a second look. Heres some pics of my tips. They might be a little hard to see but thats what makes them so stealth.

So as you can see I just cut off the 4"tip to my magnaflow muffler and welded the rre twin tips. Ultra sleek and soooooper quiet(i have a resonator as well).

A 5" tip seems like you are just asking for it anyhow. At least in Law Enforcement eyes.

You know exactly what you need to do to get the problem to go away, you just don't want to hear that answer. At the very least, the name of the citation should have been a dead giveaway for what they want you to do to comply.

Start here for ideas, and have a new tip welded onto the exhast. Or, keep paying $150 tickets.

(Whether you like the law or not is irrelevant. They can legally give it to you, and you likely have little recourse. Write to your local government officials if you think it's a poorly written law, but try to think about what they were trying to accomplish with it, so you can offer constructive suggestions instead of just complaints.)

I wouldnt even put another tip on there. Just put a peice of 3 inch pipe on it. Dont even give the cops anything shiny to see back there. With just a plain peice of pipe it will look bone stock. I feel bad for you canada guys. I just watched a street racing special on tv the other night. They were interviewing a Ontario cop and he said that the only reason for someone to modify a car is if they were street racing with it. Stupidest thing I'v ever heard.
