exhaust system ?'s

Since your car is turbo you have a exaust manifold. You will want one that matches up to your turbo. If your car has a stock turbo it would be a t-25.
I would have to say, leave it the way it is till you need to upgrade or replace your turbo. Then buy one that will work with the turbo you plan on buying. Buy a good one, not ebay crap. Not saying all ebay stuff is bad, but if it looks too good to be true... you know. You can have the nicest looking car parked on a flatdeck getting a ride home, because you wanted a "good looking" part.

If you have some future goals, the FP mani will take you farther than just your basic mani...

^^And look how effing sweet it looks!!^^

But the Evo III or a ported 2g mani will be almost as good. :thumb: Comes down to what you want to spend really.

I wouldn't waiste any time porting a 2g manifold. They are to crack prone to spend any money on. For a budget I recommend an Evo III, but if you can afford the FP def go with that!

If you manifold isn't cracked, just leave it alone for now and worry about maintaince and supporting mods. You are a long way from outflowing the 2g manifold. If it IS cracked and you HAVE to replace it then it depends on if you want tubular or cast. Do you plan on using a DSM flange turbo or a t3 flanged turbo in the future? Manifold mounted external wastegate, internal gate or o2 mounted external? Do you want to be able to use a heat shield or not? Top or bottom mount turbo and lastly what price range?

Being in CA, how are you getting away with a cut-out exhaust?

I have a ported Evo 3 and I like it. A side by side comparison to a 1g exhuast mani is very noticable. But your a 99 so I'm how much difference there is. For looks though a tubular mani is the way to go, those look very nice....but very costy. I would put that money somewhere else personaly.

Tubular headers also raise the underhood temeratures signifigantly. Wait until you NEED to change it out and match it to the turbo you are planning on sticking with (flange style). It's the most cost effictive way of doing it IMO. I wouldn't drop a couple hundred on a manifold to fix a problem and then 5 months later, do a turbo upgrade that need a different manifold. Do it once, do it right.

how am i gettin away wit my cutout?
idk i got pulled over once n i just said my muffler had a problem LOL
its sounding like its gunna be a problem when i upgrade so ill wait. thanks guys

My emissions in PA won't allow an open exhaust so, how are you doing emissions out there? Are you just taking off your whole exhaust each time or just the down pipe?

I don't know CA modification laws at all but people have said that if it isn't stock, it's illegal. If that's true, you do not want to get a tubular manifold and should stick with either a ported 2g manifold, evo 3 manifold or the FP Race manifold. That's in order of least to most expensive. Again, if it's not cracked, just port out your manifold and you'll be fine for a long while.

well when it was installed it was installed into the stock exhaust pipes.
it brought a cover to put on when i was to do my smog testing.
I asked a referee here and he said as long as headers have the C.A.R.B. sticker welded on its 100% legal.
I have looked some manifolds up that are legal
