Alright I'm in the market for a new exhaust. What I would really like to do is buy a evo III exhaust mani evoIII 16g and the evoIII o2 housing. So my question is can I run a 3" megan racing downpipe off that o2 housing because on extremepsi it says "*Note: Some downpipes will require modifications of the flange in order to bolt up to this O2 housing. " Also I want to buy the HKS Ti Carbon exhaust to run off the downpipe because the downpipe deletes the cat also so I wanted to know if all of this would fit.
 
Trying to bolt up a "normal" downpipe to the EVO III O2 housing results in excessive torque on the flex section. Basically, you'll be chewing up flex sections faster than normal because the angle where the DP bolts up is different on that O2 housing.

These are expensive, but you will alleviate the problem since they are specifically designed to be used with the EVO O2 housing.
 
I think the best thing to do here is skip the Evo3 o2 housing and pick up a custom one from Punishment or somewhere. Then you'll have tons of options for a downpipe.

would that hks exhaust be able to hook up to that down pipe?
 
I know I'm late on this one, but I've been very busy and have little time to hit the forums lately. Anyway, from what I've read, the end point of that DP is the same as all the others. Apparently it's just the mating section with the O2 housing that has a different angle. So it should marry to any cat back designed for our cars. But be advised I'm not going on first hand knowledge, just what I've read in the past.

The best bet would be to contact Road Race and ask them. Then post back and let us know what they say.
 
IMO

Skip all that and get

*FP Manifold (i saw a dyno where a guy picked up 7hp on his setup just by switching to it from an EVO III Mani)

*Ebay o2 Housing (I used one, bolted right up, and cost $60 :sneaky:)

*Meagan Racing DP

*Get a muffler tip of your choice Apexi $200 or HKS $300, and have it welded by an exhaust shop, cost me $100 including piping and BAM, had myself a $300 exhaust that sounded great :thumb:
 
WOW..so i thought over the whole exhaust set up again..I think I'm gonna go with the FP mani keep my o2 housing and just port it for now get a downpipe off punishment racing then just get a thermal exhuast the hks one seems ricey.
 
yeah go with that for sure, the other thing you gotta be careful about is some cat back or turbo back exhausts say they are 3" but when they pass through the high flow cat or through a resonator they go down to like 2 or 2 1/2. your best off to just have a shop weld up some 3" piping to fit your car. its a lot cheaper and you know its 3" all the way back.
 
^True. He should be good with the Thermal though. I just got one to replace my restrictive Apex N1. The Thermal is a lot lighter too!
 
Get a downpipe from ebay or some other vendor, and get a thermal exhaust.
Wait on the exhaust manifold until you get rid of that T25 and just put the FP maniofold with whatever turbo on at the same time.
 
I run a fp race- evo 3 16g-stock o2-megan 3in DP-Apexi CB.. Sounds good but i dont like how hard it is for the downpipe bolts.. I also had to modify the DP. i had to extend it and rotate the flange.. not to bad though
