exhaust pop on throtle release

ok i have a 1993 eagle talon with a 6bolt 4g63 non turbo and every time i let out of the throttle it starts poping in the exhaust untill i get back in the throttle of the rpms get down around 1200 or so i dosent do it any other time. it does have a test pipe in place of the cat and it has a perormace muffler with a 2in inlet and about a 3 1/2 to 4 in tip is it a normal thing, is it the muffler or is some thing off with the engine

Mine was doing that when I had a exhaust leak, Check out you exhaust.

Without a cat you have nothing to burn off the unburnt fuel that a cat would, therefore it's burning off in your exhaust.

You could get some tuning equipt and lean your A/F out a little.

try riding in an SRT-4 with no cat or mufflers all it does is crackle on decel, I love it, sounds sexy.

thats normal if your exhaust is not stock... one pop under pedal lift off is fine...... but excessive popping under de-acceleration does mean you are running a bit rich...

Your not kidding, I hear srt4's do it a all the time. I also agree that it does sound sexy

Mine pops A LOT on deaccerlation, but read my list of mods and tell me how the hell I'm running 'rich' Unless removing all your emission stuff will make you run a little rich

i also agree... SRT4's sound real mean... great sound...

and yep i was running rich 550cc without safc .... unburned fuel cause those pops ....
for you ..it might be an exhaust leak ...

My high flow catalytic converter and pacesetter cat. back exhaust are maybe a year old, so I would hope the problem doesn't lye there. I guess I could check my down pipe... Dammit, now you got me all worried, I always thought all the pops were normal and I liked the way it sounded. If srt4's can do it why can't I!

It's NORMAL. YOU ARE FINE, YOUR CAR IS NOT GOING TO BLOW UP.

Clear enough yet? Does the same thing on a stock exhaust, you just don't hear it because there's a cat, muffler, and a ton of small piping that keeps the noise from going to your ears.
