I'm trying to fix an oil pan problem but to get the oil pan off I have to drop the exhaust. I cannot get one of the 2 bolts off from the flange that connects the manifold to the downpipe. Any Suggestions. Ive heated it up, soaked it in wd40 and white lithium. I even broke the weld loose from the stud at the top of my manifold flange. I really dont want to have to cut it off and replace it. Any ideas?

How long did you soak it with PB blaster (or lithium or WD40) for? Sometimes you need to let that stuff soak for a few hours on a really tricky or stuck bolt. I've found that sometimes I have good luck soaking it in the evening, and coming back to try to get it out the next morning.

Other than that, you may need to go the route of cutting it if heating it and soaking it haven't worked. Wish I had better news on that, but sometimes cutting it is the only option left.

I only let it soak for about 10 min then I tried, then I gave up soaked it again and went inside. It will be about 24 of soaking time by the time I get a chance to try it again. Lets hope it works.

The way I got mine off was getting at it from under the car with a long extension and a breaker bar and plenty of PB Blaster. It took me a while but it WILL come off...good luck to you....I hate cutting bolts off too.:thumb:

Drill clean through the bolt, with a bit the same size as (or only slightly larger than) the bolt you're removing. After-which, replace it with a new bolt and nut.

I found PB Blaster to be the only thing that got those nasty exhaust bolts loose.. i used an impact wrench and pounded it with a hammer. But after i got it loose i went the direction Locke is suggesting and went with new bolts and nuts. Invest in some stainless steel so you avoid future headaches :thumb:
