exhaust manifold studs

need help finding the right stud for the manifold i'm putting on. It's the treadstone manifold and my ARP studs are to long for one of hole. this one hole i cant fit a bolt and a stock stud the nut isn't give me enough clearance

looks like you just need to trim/cut the stock studs to fit.

If i understand you correctly you cant get the nut past the number 2 runner? If that's the case you are going to have to slip the washer and nut while the manifold is loose. The nut and washer will clear the runner once fully tightened.

I have the same issue with my tubular DNP manifold and the number 3 runner. There is maybe 2mm clearance between the stud and runner when the manifold is tight. No way to get a nut on or off unless the manifold is loose.

Ya the easiest way would be to use stock studs and just loosen all of them and pull the manifold off a little bit so u have enough room to get nuts on all of the studs. You can get stock studs and nuts for a good price at ssstuds.com

No, dont use the stock studs or those from Jeff at SS. Your APRs will work if you slip the washer and nut onto the stud while the manifold is loose. You'll be thankful for the keyed ARPs if/when you ever seize an exhaust nut.

If anything, you may want to consider going with a flange nut or some other than the 12 points included in your ARP kit as you may not be able to get a 12 point wrench/socket on the nut with your new manifold.

Question: Is the Treadstone flange thicker than your OEM? If so going with a flange nut might be ideal since you can get away without using a washer allowing the nut to fully thread.

no not thicker. just a lot less clearance.maybe a inche of clearance from runner to stud tip. thats a stock stud in the pic. the problem is they tend to seize up alot.

look on ARP's site they list all the stud sizes they make just measure up what you need and once you find the right one write down the part number and throw it into JEGS Performance Auto Parts - Holley - Billet Specialties - Edelbrock - MSD - Moroso - Mr Gasket search it will bring the right one up and they come in 5 packs. just my .02 ...
