exhaust in intake manifold ???

What's up everyone! This weekend I removed the head from my 6 bolt 4g63, I noticed that the intake manifold was blacked out inside by what looks to be exhaust. It was from the throttle body n into the manifold. The car seemed to run fine except for the RM. Could this be that I placed the cams slightly off last time I put ti togethere? What else an it be?

The egr passage lets exhaust gasses into the intake manifold.

My EGR dissabled, could that still be it?

That's completely normal if you still have the egr valve.

Disabled how? If you simply unplugged the vacuum that's why. You need to install a block off plate.
