Exhaust Ground Wire???

Well after doing some research, apparently that braided wire being grounded to my exhaust is for the second 02 sensor.

Now theres been this rattling noise in my car for quite some time, and I finally figured out that its the ground moving between the screw and the exhaust.

Anyone know how to tighten this screw? ### its broken so many of my phillips drill heads, that I dont think its gonna budge

Not if you are talking about the 1g in your avatar. 1g cars don't have a second o2 sensor. Only one in the o2 housing.

mine was a bolt. your best bet is prob a impact screwdriver. hittin it turns it and at the same time makes sure it dont slip out of the head. its what we use on brakes and other stuck bolts. you can get a craftsman one from sear for bout $30

It is for that 1g actually,so if its not grounding a second o2 then what is it grounding?

Also I dont want to create another topic, but does anyone know how to tighten this rod(lined in green) in the shifter so that it doesnt droop up and down?

Yea I just read through the topic, its basically debatable however not too long ago I did have the car checked out by a mechanic awhile ago. And he told me that we should consider replacing the 02 sensor for better emmision results. ### apparently the emiisions were slightly better without the sensor in.
Maybe this could explain it

Yes, better emissions are possible with a new sensor. I don't get how the emissions would be better without the sensor in place though.WTF Without the sensor in place the car wouldn't know what was going on with the air/fuel ratio.

Yea I know, thats why I was pretty surprised to hear that too, so I dont know what the deal was.
Apparently they tested it with the emmissions machine too

Sounds like a way to try to get you to spend more money. It sure doesn't make sense though.
