I am working on a 1997 Eclipse 2.0 non-turbo with a 420a motor. I have torn down and rebuilt this motor and had it up and running but due to the owner needing to save $ they opted not to replace the crankshaft that had damage on jounal #1, well that caused premature bearing failure, so pulled motor replace crankshaft and bearing and re installed. Follow same procedure to time as the first time when engine ran great, however this time it broke the pin on the exhaust camshaft, pull camshaft replace it - re-timed motor re assembled - this time cranked it before putting valve cover and disconnected fuel pump relay on and all seemed fine so reconnected the relay put the valve cover on and cranked it over - it fired up and run for a few seconds and then died. After inspection if broke the same damned exhaust cam pin!! I am at total loss now, any help would be appreaciated. Thanks

make sure and torque the cam gear bolt to 75 ft/lbs.
