The only way that would work would be with an electric cutout, which takes a second or two to open. By that time, you'll be in the next gear. It's better to just open it up before you race (and make sure it's open when you start).

agreed, and mine takes like 1/2 a second to open complete.

I don't know if anyone's still considering a group buy on this, but if so, you can count me in. Gotta have it for the sleeper!

I'm in for a group by for sure. That place's normal price is $105 which is pretty damn cheap so if they can get it for under a $100 I'm all over it

thats some nice S*** but isnt there a way to mount it higher? since DSM's have to be lowered to look cooool...??? :D

I'm contacting the company right now. I'll post up the info once it's received. Please try to get others interested as well to get the best possible price!!

Thanks guys.

Maybe in cali, but they dont even look under the car here in TX. Just stick the sensor on the exhaust pipe and thats it.

All right guys, it's time for another group buy! 2.5" or 3" electric exhaust cutouts... see info here The more we have the cheaper it is, obviously. So get your friends in on it!
Here's a layout of prices.

List Price: $105

5-9 People: $100

10-14 People: $96

15+ People: $94

Let me know if you have any questions. I would like the deadline to be April 30th. That gives us more than enough time to scrounge up a few more people. There will be an official post about this when the moderators approve it. Thanks!

Count me in, I will buy one. Ill ask around with friends. I might be able to get a friend who has a cutout on his LS1 camaro to buy it. Keep me updated on the group buy.

Okay, so Group Buy posts are not allowed on Tuners. Guess I have to flow on over to Talk.

If you want in, please PM me. Thanks!

Thanks for the PMs from who's interested. I don't wanna get busted for posting a GB on a non-GB site, but I'm just tryin to better the DSM community, right? :thumb:

We have 10 people in and counting, just as an update.

Just thought I'd chime in here. I've been running the Mccord electric cutout for about 6 months now. I too was looking for that "sleeper" effect and $500+ catbacks seemed a little ridiculous. I have an extreme psi 3" dp which also replaces the cat. It necks down to bolt up to the stock catback. I bought a 2.5" y-pipe from summit, and had a shop weld/clamp it in. I have a couple pics, but theyre hard to make out. I do like the setup, and I've had a lot of fun with it. The power increase from closed to open is very noticeable. As logged on my pocketlogger, airflow from my 14b increases from 27 lbs/min to 31 lbs/min, which certainly translates to hp gains. The look on the face of people on the street is funny to watch when you open it up.

However, I have recently purchased a Greddy Evo catback, and taking off the cutout. It is entirely too loud to drive around town with the cutout open. It also attracts way too much attention at WOT. Hearing the turbo spool down is very cool though  If anyone has any questions about my setup feel free to ask, or if you are interested in purchasing mine, pm me.

Since i read these post im definatley thinking about getting 1. Does the cutout act like an external dump? Because im going to buy an exhaust from RnR. Will the cutout work with the o2 elim downpipe, and is it good for a 50trim? Also can you run it with an external wastegate? Sry for my newbieness LOL but im really interested in these products and i would like to get one.
Thanks in Advance
Matt

The cutout does not act like an external dump, because it's not dumping the air from the wastegate, but simply opening up your exhaust sooner.
I believe the cutout will function on your O2 Elim DP as long as the DP is 2.5" or 3" (which is about 99% probable)

As I mentioned before, this does not come with the y-pipe that is necessary to complete the setup, however they are available for $25-30 on a few wholesale automotive sites. One side of the y would continue to your exhaust, while the other would end at the cutout. Flip the switch and your exhaust is flowing right out the downpipe instead of through a restrictive exhaust system.

I believe either SummitRacing.com or JCWhitney.com will have one. If you find one, let me know, as I'll need one too. :thumb:

And if you want in for sure, let me know soon. Only a couple slots left.

Im bringing this back to life I guess. Im in for the group buy if its still going, I PM you. I too am doing a "sleeper" 2g. Im leaving the stock swirly rims with stock paint and body panels. I am however going to get NT side skirts for those guys that really do look things over.

Just an update...
Everyone in the group buy should have received an e-mail from the company, as well as from me. We have only had 4 people purchase theirs out of the 20 that signed up. I'm a little disappointed in the dropouts, since this is a great mod at an awesome price. If you were on the list and have yet to buy yours, please PM or e-mail me IMMEDIATELY with an explanation, or else go and purchase the cutout as directed by the company in their e-mail.
