can someone run the location where the cut out is supposed to be placed...i am confused now...
from what i know its right after the downpipe? before the cat...
can someone verify thanks

yup, thats where you want it, before the cat..... if you wanna see what it feels like, go take your exaust off except for your down pipe and take a spirited drive :thumb:

Is that really necessary? At the 2003 Shootout, John Shepherd ran a 9.08 with a muffler....he was probably making close to 1000hp at the crank at that time. 3" without a cat and a good muffler is all you'll ever need. Save the money for something else.

sorry we are all not John Shepards here. Nor do we have the funds. Im sure the price of a full 3 1/2" exhaust is more expensive than an electric cut out. so how is this saving money?

Here's mine in the race pipe...

I'm in germany and the track open's in june, so i can give you real numbers then.

I raced this 99 cobra mustang, and he had a vortech, or a pro charger on it, with intake and exhaust.

I beat him at a measly 15 psi on my 50 trim ,and i had a bad knock sensor, with an exhaust manifold leak, and i missed 3rd gear, and he had traction.

I have read that 99 cobra's pull 13.8 or 13.9 stock, so with that charger i know he had to be in a high 12 if not lower. Recently the cobra ran a 2000 SS camaro and beat him like a 1 1/2 cars.

So with that said i'm guessing at 15 psi i'm at a 13.0 and lower, all depending on the tune, which i didn't get a chane to tune at 15 psi. I usually run only 10psi on the 50 trim becuase my knock sensor is bad, and get a crazy detonation spike when i try to tune at 20 psi around 4000rpm's.. New sensor will be here soon.

But those are the times i would think i'd be running at the moment. 23 psi should be crazy:talon:

Oh yeah, i beat the cobra by a car, and missed 3rd:mad:

if you used stock exhaust and a cutout
and with cutout open your boost was set to ...say 18psi
if you left that setting alone on your boost controller and closed the cutout it would be less boost, right?

then the cutout would work twofold...one as a high flow exhaust...and two kinda like a dual stage boost controller
so then i could run low boost on street and higher boost with no restriction when i want to play some

is this correct?

The only way that would work would be with an electric cutout, which takes a second or two to open. By that time, you'll be in the next gear. It's better to just open it up before you race (and make sure it's open when you start).
