I just thought I post this I was very impressed when I picked it up so much so that I purchased the head and the engine from my buddy for some future use of course. The port job came with a graph showing the before and after numbers of the port work. I must say jerry did an awersome job! This is head represents a verbal stage 1 port work nothing wild! I can't emagine what any stage above would look like:D

Absolutely beautiful. The only improvement on that I can see would be a bit of dish work, though that's not porting. This guy is good.

I watch him a little bit he measured each port throughout the process making sure all ports matched best part he only charged 600.00 more pics. http://killiansportingservice.com/

Did he make templates out of sheet metal to duplicate the ports?

Would also like to see the flow numbers as well.

Na I didn't see any sort of sheet metal template. He did measure everything and laid it out before starting. If you look at the head there are square scribe mark maybe this is done by him to keep things right. As for flow numbers I will post them when i get home.

Here's the graph showing improvement you may note my own marking on the graph I put these on the sheet for they represent a set of bc272 cam which I am currently running. This head will certainly benefit from a set of larger cams!

Here's the after port numbers lots of Improvement not only in flow but valve velocity as well. Also the percentage of intake valve flow to exhaust valve flow is also excellent. I can't wait to test this sucker

I forgot to mention the before and after flow numbers were done with stock valves not the bc high flow valves mention in the video:D look at the valve velocity @.500 on the exhaust side the port work yeilded a great amount which means this head is surely going to spool the turbo really nicely!!

Nothing wrong with cutting the guides. Would have gotten lower numbers not cutting them. Doesn't make them not reliable either.

I agree! With the exhaust side you have to be a little careful though. I cant emagine what the numbers would have been testing the head with cut down guides:aha:

I would never do it on a 4G63 never. Control Flow - Bj's - POLK - HeadGames - Headway - Buschur - Magnus - Road/Race - DPR - PURE - all say the same or did it as 2 are out of business now

those guides are the old ones. we installed new bronze guides and tested from there. LOL

I have seen his work before and remember he didnt cut the guides down. He does great work

Yeah I drove almost 3hrs to meet him. We spoke at length about drag harley's and everything else, then we finally got to why I drove such long distance. This man showd me heads that was sent from out of the united states to him for port work. He is an older guy in his mid 60's and been porting for over 35yrs he has a knack for it. He has a very clean shop behind his house with all kinds of machinery for doing what he does. He was more impressed that I was a furniture/woodworker than I was of him porting heads we almost pull out the beerLOL! He also port templates for most of the major CNC head porting companies. He wouldn't tell me who though. Overall I am very please with his services especially for such an affordable price;)

Whats the issue with cutting them down on these heads?

Whats the issue with cutting them down on these heads?

On the intake side of things no big deal, exhaust side can be an issue. If thing get too hot sealing properties of the exhaust vavles can be compromised. For this reason I don't endorse doing it on the exhaust side and by personal choice I don't do it on the intake side either this keep the percentage of intake valve flow and exhaust valve flow within the percentage that most experts feel is ideal for ideal power;) Certainly don't want more air coming in than you can't get out if you know what i mean!

You said you drive 3 hours to meet him? Where is he? I'm in sc so if you went up to him that would be close to me and I could use port work!

15 miles south of Macon Ga, located in Warner Robins Ga were the Big air us force base , that protect the eastern US from harm, is located. You go 75 south 2.5 hrs north Of the FL line. So you will have to add 3hrs to your travel coming south on interstate 75 from SC once you reach the Ga line:cool: Okay I just did GPS from were you are. You are 5 1/2 hrs away.

I saw the scribe marks. I figured he did that to ensure he got the ports uniform in the corner radius of the port. I used to work with an old guy that did some porting and he did his similar. Either way you do it with scribe marks or templates you pretty much end up with the same deal on the port opening. ll being uniform to the others. I'm just guessing on the runners he just deburred and polished them. A port match and removing the casting/burrs and polishing will give you a big jump in performance.

He did such a pretty job it's a shame to put the manifolds on and hide the work.
