EvoScan - Does anyone use it??

I was looking at Evo tuning.. I was bored... and I stumbled across something that they use a lot as a logger. It is called EvoScan. I went on the web site: http://www.limitless.co.nz/#SupportedVehicles, and it actually says it works with our cars too and any mitsubishi up from 94 using the "MUT/MUT-II/MUT-III protocol" for the logging... This logger logs everything including knock sum.. would it be possible that because this logger uses the Mitsubishi protocol and not the generic obd protocol that it can log things that the other generic obd2 loggers can't?

Ceddy, that's odd as the website specifically says it works with a '90-94 DSM, so long as you have an ALDL/ODBI USB cable.

The author must of added support for 1G DSMs. I looked into using evoscan a while back and nothing worked for early model DSMs.

Can anyone confirm that EvoScan works with US 1G DSMs?

"works" could be relative.
Perhaps there is now legacy support allowing a more broad range of vehicles to be advertised as "working". But this could also mean that they use a slower, less feature-rich protocol such as ODBI / II or this ALDL business.

Just pointing out that the information is inconsistent and just reading it as gospel off the website could lead to misinterpretation.

For all we know they just added support in some crippled capacity, no better than our pocketloggers, for older cars.

I want to hear from someone that has actually used it on a 2g. Difficulty of use? Much cheaper alternative to dsm link. I'm in the market for engine management this winter, don't want to go with an AFC or anything like that.

I tried to use evoscan on my 97 2g.... it would not connect, after some research i found out it will work on 98-99 ecu's though.

According to one guy on the evo m boards the datalogger will work on things other than eprom ecu's. pretty much anything other than a 95. Just keep in mind, it is not a way to tune your car, Just a datalogger, and a really nice one at that

Hate to revive a thread from a month ago but has anyone tried this yet? I want to but have yet to find any of the cables. His site says in November the 95-96 eclipse/dsm would be released the following week so I'd imagine it would be out now. Anyone out there with the right cable using this yet? I mean come on 25 bucks and seems pretty legit.

I have it for my EVO and love it i am trying to get it setup so i can use it on my 1g. I am going to try my stock cable tonight and see what happens. I have emailed asking for more details.

well I am thinking, if I have to buy a cable anyways for dsmlink, I mise well buy one and this evoscan and if it doesn't work on my 99, worst case senario is I lose 25 bucks, meh! Although I will be broke because I gotta pay back everyone who helped me buy the 99GSX heh..

It says that the author updated that post in the first page today. It also says that a new version of evoscan was released in November. So, support for some of the older cars may have been added.

Will ECUflash run on the 98-99 ecu or does evoscan only run on the newer ecus? Does evoscan run with a stripped down feature set on the 98-99 ecu?

I use it on my 1998 GSX. This logger is amazing! There's so much that you can log with it. There was a recent update to support the older cars as well, of course I can't confirm that but the update is supposed to support the 1g. Right now im just waiting for a new update so it will clear check engine lights and diagnose a little better. Oh btw, the EvoScan also has a great gauge builder too making it easy to read/see when your using it while driving. It also can tell your horsepower and torque, but im not sure how accurate it is. I'll post some pictures when i get home from work.

It looks like the developers for ecuflash are still trying to support the H8 processor in the 98-99 ecus, I hope it works out.

Are you using it with a palm or a laptop? Glad to hear its working well for you.
If I had my way, the community would all move towards evoscan and ecuflash for our needs. The possibility is there, someone brainy just has to make it happen.

I use EvoScan with my laptop and my OS is Vista. Here is a pic. of some horsepower and torque testing : oh, dont mind the boost gauge, it won't work correctly. It shows 2-4 PSI at idle and will go up to 20. I know this is wrong cause my car is completely stock.

What cable do you need to hook up to the ECU i know how to use the software i do all the time on my evo but i don't think the three wire serial cable is going to work with this.

Can someone post a link or a picture of the cable.
