Kazzam, when your turbo spools in 1st or 2nd gear does it hit hard enough that it breaks the tires loose, even though you're going a little faster. I have no doubt that I would love a 50-trim turbo (especially because I pick all of my races on the highway) but I don't think it's going to help me with traction in the lower gears. Am I correct? Thanks for any help.

Yes, it does break em loost in 2nd gear, however, 1st is a lot easier to grab now, 2nd is stll spinning, but i assure you, when i had my big t28, i would spin more in 1st and spin just as bad in 2nd... so its a good trade off...! go for it!

since we're talking fwd, and traction here... i felt like I should throw a post in ;)
I've got a FWD B16G turbo.. running about 20psi.. creeps a bit (went to 24 the other day when I took it out, had to let off the gas quick!).. And my tires spin like mofo's in first and second.. 3rd is not a problem.

I noticed the other day though in 2nd I was probably 70% throttle up to about 4.5k rpms, and I punched it, the wheels just spun and went to redline for a couple of seconds... even when they were spinning I was still pulling on the car next to me. This is with a stock suspension & no LSD.

I read above the post about how big of a difference motor mounts make to put in. I imagine I'd need an "engine hoist" to hold it while each mount is out. How big of a job are we talking to do this? Any suggestions on which brand to get?

ehh i have beatin 350Zs, Mustangs GTs, G35s, just about anything thats FWD or RWD that isnt over 300HP stock. All from a dead stop so i am guessing i have about 240-250 whp @ 15PSI. It doesnt matter what things you have/had over me, i can modulate my throttle better than you cause i havent had any problems with my 16G. :dsm:

you must not be making any power then. i had nitto 450's, an lsd and full suspension on my old 16g fwd and i still had no traction in 1st gear at all.

I've got the energy suspension inserts. They only make the inserts for the front & rear torque mounts, which are the most important ones to change, I believe? To install these you don't need a hoist to hold the motor. Just jack the car up and change one at a time, really easy to do & cheep, can get them new on ebay for around $25 shipped.

thats y i dont like 50-Trims on FWD. i have a e16G w/ a decent set of tires and i BARELY spin in first @ 15PSI. I didnt want to deal with the same problems my friend has with his GST + 50-trim :dsm:

Can you explain in more detail the problem your friend has with his 50 trim in a fwd, cause if I don't put on the evo I have I would be gettin a t40b which is similar to the 50 trim.

You best off going with the whole 4 mounts instead just the 2 front and rear ones. to change, its couple of hours. hoist the car up, put a brick or a 2nd jack under the motor with some sort of pad.. like a peace of wood so not to bend the oil pan and lift just a bit so its leveled, replace one, do the same thing for all 4. Tranny and firewall mounts are a bi*** to get to, but not bad, 3 or 4 hours would be plenty of time. I think its around $30 fro the front and rear inserts and $69 for the whole 4. With the four, the engine doesn't move one bit when reving or taking off.. its awesome, it makes the car feel so solid and makes u wanna drive it more... enjoy

Call me crazy but I have a evoIII and I felt some G's pushing me back today during a few 2nd gear pulls at 16psi and still getting decent traction. Can only go up to about 5500 rpms because it starts to creep bad...so I say go with something else because boost creep sux...but if you can control that, this turbo has a massive power band, even though it's top end might not be as much as a 50 trim or bigger turbo, I think the fast spool and wide power band it a blast...I still don't know what it's topend is actually like though because I haven't dared to go that high...(creep)

I only have front and back motor mounts.

Anyone know where I can get the sides with out having to buy the front and rear again?

Thanks.

Yeah, I got the prothane inserts for like $30 or so from Summit. They made a huge difference. The minor vibration you get is barely noticable after a while, and you can make it go away by setting your idle higher. I've got Stillen swaybars which were another good upgrade making wheelhop go away too. I'm at about 250whp and like DSMSpyder99 said, G35s, Stang GTs are no problem. I even took down a auto C5 vert (50 roll) and I think they are rated at 350 from the factory. Granted they are the slowest of all C5's but still, it didn't make him feel too happy. 2nd barely spins anymore unless it is just a very cold night, but all I have to do is feather it out of the hole in first and I can regain the half a car to car loss I get from others. I can't wait for more power from my next upgrade (Hahn FMIC) to be bolstered by my upcoming KAAZ.

Well he has a T04E AGP RS49, and like me he has real prothane motor mounts not inserts. He also has 235/40/17 on 7.5 width. Anyway back to the point like many people say he has NO grip at all. Even with some beefy tires and prothane motor mounts he still spins and hops until third. I can beat him until he finally gets traction in third then he pulls like a raped ape. To me isnt pratical if you drive on the streets alot because a 50-trim is VERY PEAKY. On a side note, there is a TSi AWD in my school and he has a TD06 20G and that turbo has a much better mid range and IMO is better street turbo. Keep in mind he has AWD so it doesnt hop or spin only chirps then grips.

dude, ANY respect I would have had for you and your fast car are now gone.. what a rediculous statement..

a spyder that can roll with 350Z's gets my respect.

*edit* wow.. all that smacktalk and you have a s16G with cams ...

Hmmm I sure hope I can take out mustang GT's & G35 coupes with the EVO since I could do it with my tiny azz t25. I was hoping for bigger prey like the vette, ss camaro & svt cobra.

And I don't have cams, FMIC, AFPR, DSMlink, blah blah blah.

ill chime in on this one, i put on the evo3 and kissed my 1st gear goodbye :|

i forgot what it feels like to pull in 1st, everytime i try i roast the crap out of my tires at 12psi, i just cant wait till i get injectors and a fmic, go to 20psi and never know traction again

what the hell r u talking bout u beat gt's i roll with cobras..ur a joke man.....as i know there are manyyyyyy mustang gt's that drive around by mean that willlllll smoke a cobra....LOL jus because it says mustang gt on the back doesn't mean its not fast LOL....my car has a non turbo sticker on the back.... does that mean its slow.... look at my mod list i have mad crap...

my point still stands like i said i dont care what mods you have or had over me i still know how to modulate my throttle better than you. I know i havent maxed out my e16G yet (probably wont unless the stock 7bolts fails) and im missing some major parts like FMIC, injectors, and AFC. However, i really dont care what you beat or pretended to beat (i highly doubt you beat a 390HP 03 Corbra but if you did more power to u). With my mods at only 15PSI, beating the cars that i have from a dig is very respectable since they range from 260-300 HP stock; and for your information the Mustang GT i was talking about wasnt the old body style w/ 260HP, i was talking 2005 with 300HP stock. Further more, YES i have beatin modded 99-04 Mustangs GTs too. If i want to roast my tires trust me i can it aint hard to in a FWD DSM with a T25 or 16G. And like i said in the first sentence I still know how to modulate my throttle better than you :) :dsm:

I dont think you understand..my point was not how fast i was...but how you arent making any power and the statement that you BARELY  get tirespin in 1st is rediculous. ANy fwd with halfway decent will spin all through 1st easly and should spin in second too. We arent talking about who can CONTROL their tirespin better Mr. John Force.

And yes jerkoff, i could hang with cobars, ever heard of 24psi race gas on a good running fwd dsm? STFU dude. You are not making any power..what else do you want me to say??? a properly running 16g car will not have any traction unless you feather the throttle ( which is not the point of the thread John Force).
