450lph Install on 1g fwd?

Just trying to see if anybody has installed one of these in a 1g fwd. The issue is the damn sock that comes with the new pump is massive and hits the bottom of the hanger. I would just cut the hanger but on the fwd that is where the bottom of the pump bolts on and plugs the fuel tank hole. If I use the sock off of my 255 it works great. I am worried the smaller sock will create too much restriction and not let it flow good enough. Any input is appreciated! Thanks guys.

im not sure if it will affect flow, but i installed it as well on my 2g and the big filter didn't fit so i used a new one from a 255 and works fine
