pump and install kit

pump with sock they sent. As you can see its going the wrong way so you can use the rubber gromment for the bottom "L" part of the sender.

I actually figured the sock thing out. You just dont use the one they send. Just use the stock one. The stock one sticks off the bottom not go across it.

May have figured this out to. I think it requires drilling out the top of the sender and stick the nipple of the pump through. Then hook up the rubber line and clamp down. MAYBE???

plug on pump

Does not plug in like a 255 or dw300 so I guess when you get yours LMK what you do.

I guess I dont understand why they sent the huge sock. But since it goes across the bottom of the pump and not stick out like normal. I may have just over thought that part since the sock came with the kit why wouldn't it work? LOL

Went back out put on a stock sock and its fine but the bottom of the 450lph is bigger than the 255lph so the rubber gromet on the bottom that holds the pump is to small. Is it ok to just use the stock one and wedge it tight with the adjustable "L" bracket.

So basically if you have done this install arealy coulkd you please let me know what you used and how it was done. A write up would be awesome!!!

Nobody???

I figured it out and have the bulk head ordered. Someone posted in my personal build thread on my local forum with a link to how to install the pump.

It can be found on the link forums or if you need to PM me and I can link my build thread.

Im not on the link forums yet, my build thread is on my local board in MN

I just did mine and it worked fine.

I was not able to use their sock, i used the 255 sock. I did use the rubber grommet. My secret was using O-rings on the nipple of the pump, I think i used three of them then jammed it in the hanger and it works great.

oh, and dont forget to drill the siphon hole to 1/8" on the return or you will not be able to get your base pressure down.

What did you do about the wires? How did you hook them up?

Not my pictures and I believe this is a 400lph pump and this is what I'm planning to do with mine.

Actual build thread it's located on page 3 of what the guy did on linkforums. I think it's actually a 400lph that is installed but the two pups are similar just have different wiring.

Also this piece is cheaper than the $50 with shipping that he had posted for the bulkhead. Plus you get to support a vendor. STM. It's $21 bucks but way better than $50

STM - AEROMOTIVE -6AN TO 5/16 BARB FITTING | 15635

I had over 10 different PMs about this but will take no credit for actually doing anything. I will do a detailed write up unless someone beats me to it. As it seams simple enough now.

Also this is my first time messing with the hanger so what do you mean by drilling return siphon. Can you please post pics it would probably bot only help me but a few others on this forum.

As always thanks. I hope this pump is worth the effort!

Great job on that hanger but the bulk heads and rubber hose are not necessary. I used fuel safe rubber O-rings on the fuel pump nipple and they fit perfect into the hanger tube. Not saying one way is better or worse, but O-rings are a ton cheeper than AN fittings.

As for the siphon hole, please follow this post. It is an absolute must for this pump.

You have to have a bulkhead in order to seal the fitting to the top of the hanger and still have something to attach the hose end to. How exactly do you plan to still attach the 90 hose end/fitting to the -6 fitting part if you have to put it through the drilled hole in the hanger with two oring seals sandwiching it, then with a nut on it to hold it down to the hanger????? You're not going to have anything left to put a fitting on. This is the whole purpose of using a bulkhead. In short, unless you're welding a fitting directly to the top of the hanger, you need to use a bulkhead. I've done this twice on two different 2g's running dual walbro setups and am currently in the process of redoing my dual intank setup, and switching to a dual pickup tube setup in each hanger on the driver and passenger side, feeding -6 feeds that Y to a -8 that an aeromotive eliminator external pump draws through. Then the return also splits off into two-6's that also go into each side of the tank. This eliminates the need for the siphon setup. If I was to ever do a dual in tank setup again, I would buy a factory fuel hanger or pull one from the junkyard, and run them just like you would a drop in pump just one on the passenger and drivers side. Then I would use adapter fittings from the factory flare fitting to -6 and from there run the lines exactly like I am with the external setup, Y' ING them from and to each hanger. No, bulkheads, no modifying, just clean, oem like install and if using two 340 pumps, enough for well over 1000awhp...... Why someone hasn't done it yet is beyond me. Only reason I didn't was because I already had hacked up my factory hanger which means I would've needed to get two stock hangers instead of one, and I also acquired the eliminater pump recently and wanted to use it. Furthermore, I'll likely be switching to a frontline fab bolt in cell in the near future.

Thanks! I know how you installed yours and understand how it works the way you did it now. The only reason I switched it or am doing it with an fittings and bulkhead is the fact that the privies owner of the car had cut the stock line for an online pump but never installed it. So know I gave alligator clamped together fuel lines so I order 9' feet of russel pro classic lines from STM to make the install to the inline fuel filter a no brainer.

I can put a list of what I ordered tomorrow.

Thanks guys keep the suggestions going!

So, im just finishing up my new and improved idea for mounting this pump without it just hanging on by an oring. I drew up this slick little schematic to illustrate what i am planning on doing:

So, im planning on drilling the fuel feed line hole in the fuel sender to 3/8", then welding on a -8an bung on top for the fuel feed. Because the wally 450 is so tall, only one bulkhead fitting really fits, the pink one above. That is -6an, and i already have my lines run for -8an, so it would be pointless if i bottleneck the whole deal. I want to weld a 3/8" NPT nipple fitting on the bottom after hacking the factory piece down there, then use a 3/8" hose to clamp onto the pump and nipple. Will this work well? Is this a good idea. I need guidance, refer to the above picture if you question what happens when im unsupervised.

I posted your slick little schematic on facebook for all to enjoy. :thumb:

I'm glad you guys enjoyed my drawerings. I am a veritable baron of the blueprints, a sensei of the scribbles. Based on these overwhelmingly positive reactions, im sure there will be more of these in the future. Maybe I will make comix strips on my build thread of me failing with my dsm.
