Alright so I'm only 18 and I just bought my first turbo car. A 92 Eagle Talon TSI AWD.(still have a 95 talon esi) It has a 3" turboback APexi Exhaust, A Manual boost controller, 255 lph fuel pump, 2G ported manifold, ACT 2600 clutch on rebuilt transmission double synchroed second gear, and the stock 14b turbo. Tomorrow I should be getting my Aeromotive AFPR and then I need to get a new timing belt and replace it. (old one is worn out and jumped timing we're hoping the valves aren't bent, I got a good deal on the car because of that worry) Now I want to start modding some more. I'm kind of stuck with what to do next becuse being eighteen and in college money is slow to come by. and I don't want to buy something just to have to upgrade it later. I'm thinking about starting out with injectors probably 550cc or larger and an Apexi AFCII. My goals are about a mid 12 second daily driver. (probably won't be daily driven but I want it at least mostly reliable) Is this a good next step along with intercooler piping? I see alot of people saying its hard to tune a mid to low 12 sec. car with the AFC so I'm kind of wondering my other options. Its going to be a slow process to the 12 second mark and I'm thinking about the EVOIII 16G after these mods.

Sorry for the long post just wondering what i should do next.

i believe u are on the right track. i would prolly go with the 550's and afc next as well. that would be a better upgrade at this time than intercooler pipes. but the pipes would be coming pretty soon afterword if it were mine.

Well I'm planning on selling my N/T for around 2500-3000 and I'll use some of that for upgrades. Probably a little less then a thousand or so. I'm trying to decide if I should get IC pipes or just upgrade to a front mount. I also heard 550's might not be big enough to max out an Evo3. I might go with 660's.

Ok I've done some more research and decided to change my original post a little. I've scene that the dsmlink is a way better tuning resource then the SAFC so I'm thinking about going that route. From the sounds of it I won't be disapointed. However, now I'm wondering if I should get the dsmlink and injectors first or upgrade to the EvoIII first? I see I could run around 14 psi on my fuel components now and later get the dsmlink and injectors so I could run more boost. Or I could get the dsmlink and injectors and max out my 14B. Is it just personal preferance? or is there a certain path I should follow? thanks

well i personally am going the route of trying to max out my 14B and i just got DSMlink. I would like to get a FMIC to go with it but i dont have the money right now. i have read of several 14Bs running LOW 12s on mostly stock parts just FMIC tunning on high boost. so i would imagine getting to a mid to high 12 wouldnt be to super hard if you can learn how to tune. id say DSMlink and a FMIC to max out what you got. i dont see any point in upgrading parts till you have maxed out what you have. one it will help you learn tunning for when you get bigger faster parts and two you might be happy with your outcome and not have to waste anymore money. i read of way to many people on here having so many nice parts and running SH*TY times and dynoing weak numbers that i wouldnt be satisfied with after spending the money they have. so max out what you got learn and then if time comes you can spend money and max out that part before upgrading again :thumb:

I can't get the FMIC because its kind of one expensive mod at a time. I'll probably look at getting dsmlink and a labtop along with some 660 injectors after I get rid of the N/T then. I know what you mean about big turbo's and slow times. I want to learn about tuning. I don't really know anything about it right now. ANyone else have opinions?

I assume you've already confirmed your ECU has an EPROM? If not add another couple hundred to your budget.

Definitely go with either an EPROM or DSMLink with the big injectors.

Yeah i would DEFF go with DSMlink if thats all you can budget. you will be impressed with what HP increase you can get with that over anything else for the same if not double that money you will spend. Its kinda sad that a lot of people running the stock turbo 14B or the evoiii 16G would hand a lot of the guys with the 50 trims or 60-1s their asses since most of the people with big turbos arent using them for what they are worth. there was a post yesterday "picture of my car" and it was a 1G and at the bottom of the pics it said like 426 HP and 430 lbs then someone asked him his best time and he said a 12.1 at 1xx mph. now if i have 350 hp and am still in the 12s with an AWD ill take the mods off and part the car out and put the money into a mustang. I dont understand how so many people have so much power but are so slow. yes times dont mean anything on the streeet but if you cant get down the track then how will you get down the street. sorry about the rambling just pissed that i dont have their money to actually go fast with. GO WITH DSMLINK

Yeah since I just started looking into the dsmlink I have to make sure i have an Eprom ecu. I'll probably tear into it tomorrow along with the timing belt install. That is if College is canceled which with the snow we're getting it probably will be.
